Braves fans: Braves close to a deal for Jake Peavy

Peavy has to approve trade.

Thoughts? I love it. Yeah they're giving up a solid group of guys, mainly Escobar and Morton. But in my mind a good SS is easier to come by than a ace with a great contract. Step one is done to returning to contention.

Finally an absolute ace on the staff. I hate losing Escobar, but I'm with you. It's easier to find a capable SS than an ace pitcher. Now let's go get a power bat.

From what I can see he pitched every start from the all-star game to the end of the season, and pitched 223 innings last year winning the Cy young award.

I can't see the Braves being too competitive next year. Peavy for Hudson is basically a swap. And while I didn't love Tex, there is no one to replace his production.
