Not a transformative player, but fits right into the TVH role. He’s about Beran’s size, but has not shot from outside.

He mentioned in his farewell message at Liberty that he’s already married, for whatever that’s worth.

Good pickup.

32% from the FT line! Other than that, looks solid.

Don't dis TV, he shot 62% from the line last season......
Early in the season I recall that TV was shooting less than 50% from the FT line. He improved over the course of the season, as did Big Matt. Hopefully this new guy can improve too.

Never saw him play, or did as we played Fallwell U, but have no recollection. He's a senior. I like that.

Would be insanely exciting if we could get a legit scorer who plays 3/4, and have everyone return.

When we beat Liberty at the Cancun Challenge last November, Preston didn't start and played just 12 minutes off the bench, scoring 4 points on 2-2 shooting, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 0 fouls, and 1 turnover. He'll be a nice role player for us to help replace Beran/Verhoeven.

Don’t think he’ll log any min at the 4. Still need to pick up Berans min. My guess will be Barnhizer with the rest going to Martinelli. MN majority at the 5. Preston takes the back up min. Hunger soaks up any remaining with potential to take min away from Preston.

Should expect to try for a guard transfer or 2 to replace Roper/Buie/Audige. Maybe a 3-4 transfer who can space and move.

I agree. This dude is not coming in for any Beran minutes. Don't see a chance of this guy playing at the same time as MN. Does not shoot the 3, spacing would be an issue.

The little I saw of Hunger suggested his outside shot could make him compatible with MN. But I have zero recollection of Hunger being used at anything but 5 with MN and TV on the bench. Very small sample size though.

You think Hunger has the mobility to play the 4 on d? Requires a lot of quick post traps and recoveries. I didn’t see enough of him to form an opinion and freshman tend to look “slower” due to not being used to game speed yet.

Like you, I have no idea. Not enough play time to form any remotely informed idea. No recollection of him trying to stay with someone on a switch. My vivid memory is of massive, massive legs.

But he looks like he has a shot, teams would have to honor his shot and not clog the paint. So, maybe? Depending on lineups? If he has a big enough summer jump, live with some potential issues on defense while having a mismatch on offense? Maybe if playing zone? He's an intriguing player for me.

Gotta agree with the general theme here.
Blake Preston was listed as a center for Liberty. Attempted only 3 three pointers, missed them all. He's similar to Verhoeven, though probably a slight touch below.

Hunger has a Big Ten body. I hope (and believe) he is capable of playing the 4. If not, at least we have solid depth behind Nicholson. We may have to do a little zone defense with certain lineups - is that so wrong???

Here are the stat lines of two players against top-100 opponents in the last year before they transferred to NU. Can you name them?

What the hell do some of those stats even mean? Nevertheless I'm guessing the first guy is our new guy Blake Preston and the second guy is TV.
