Not sure if I tried this a few months ago, might have been too soon.

But we're now close enough to the start of the season - any of you guys seeing some breakout candidates?

I nominate the offensive line. If seems the new staff is adamant that we will be a run first offense. It will be absolutely imperative that we establish some type of running game. Singularly, I look for Jawon Pass to be a steady manager of the offense and for Hassan Hall to be a a strong #1 RB.

I hope it’s the entire defense. Honestly I don’t know our defensive schemes other than the 3-4 but I hope we blitz from time to time. I want to see QB sacks and tackles for loss. Plus I want to see us defend the big plays and not see our safeties trying to chase people down.

Hope it's Pass. It would be great to see him bounce back with a vengeance.

I’ve been thinking all along that Jawon needs to be a breakout player for us. If he can just hit 75% of the open throws the offense gives him, then the defense won’t be able to load up to stop our running game. The most disappointing part of his performance last year was how bad his accuracy was.

The one mention of Pass and his throws during fall camp sounded to me like he was still struggling with his accuracy.

On defense, I expect Ty Tyler and Monty Montgomery to be breakout players for us, based on the reports I’ve been hearing.

Defense-I'm giving it to whoever has learned how to tackle. Offense-whoever has learned how to play football without a stupid penalty. I fully expect there will be many breakouts.

I seriously appreciate the #'s... when I go to the games my buzz will be real, I'll struggle to remember the name of the person I'm with. So #'s gonna help!

Ipartied, I take this with me all season. I struggle with # and names. I just leave it in my big a$$ clear plastic bag. I'm the number, name person in our group that answers that question Who was that?

That's what I was thinking, or maybe one of the other QB's. You can hide a lot of mistakes if you have quality at QB, as we saw all too well with LJ.

On defense I’ll say Russ Yeast. He’s back with a new attitude. He had some struggles as a young corner in man coverage. The move to safety should more effectively utilize his skills assuming he can perform as an adequate tackler. The last 5 years App State was among top 15 in country in total interceptions. If that holds true, Yeast should have ample opportunity to use his speed and athleticism to get some picks.
