Not a frequent poster (mostly Friday juke box) but am a childhood PSU fan thanks to my late Mother and am a 1990 graduate. I love PSU For everything it is, including football of course, and I enjoy this board. With everything that has occurred over the past few weeks, in my opinion the person that should be at the top of our list should be Brian Hartline. The guy will be a head coach at some point in the near future and almost certainly will not be Ohio State because Day is only 48 and not going anywhere anytime soon. The job is not far from where he’s from, and he could have an immediate impact with recruiting. Is this a realistic hope?

Seems like most here want to go HC first, and only then go onto AC. IMO, It will be Rhule before an AC.

Would at least give him an interview.

He likely won't be available until Jan and worst case late Jan. I think they are gonna focus on experience as HC over anything else

I also think Hartline should be the number 1 candidate right now for several reasons

1. You pull him away from osu
2. Can recruit and develop wide receivers, and you’d have to think some good QB talent would follow
3. He knows the big ten . Could probably upgrade this roster quickly through the portal
4. Look at our competition. Penn State has a long way to go to close the offensive talent gap with the top teams in this conference. Hartline is probably the best candidate to accomplish that.
5. He moves the needle, he brings a lot of credibility on developing skill positions, something badly needed. Rhule, Campbell, etc are just bringing the same old CEO style, win the press conferences, etc. they just don’t bring enough change.

now here’s the potential deal breaker. PSU needs a coach to hit the ground running. They absolutely cannot wait til mid January for Hartline to begin working in State College with Ohio State going to the playoffs. If Hartline says he won’t be full time head coach until the playoffs are over, that should be a deal breaker

Feels like Swinney and Bama; think he’s gonna be very good too.
