Can some of you who are more basketball savvy than I give me your takes on McGowens? I know he wins Freshman of the week every time, but in the few Nebby games I've watched, I just don't see it. Verge seems like their best player. They got their best win when McGowens wasn't even available. He reminds me of Romeo Langford of Indiana, another guy who got nothing but hype, and I just never saw it. What am I missing?

You could be correct, not much production versus our open door defense

It's worth noting that Verge is in his 5th year out of high school while Bryce is a true freshman.

In the 18 B10 games since January 1, Bryce is averaging 17.7 ppg. He's shot better than 35% in 12 of those 18 games. Guess who three of the six games were against where he shot less than 35%? NU is two of the three games where he shot in the 20s. Iowa is the other.

I haven't watched the game closely enough to understand whether NU tweaks its defense against Bryce, or it's just Audige. But they have his Bryce's number.

Audige deserves a lot of credit. I feel tempted to say that's why he did not rest in the 2nd half yesterday. And ended up making bonehead decisions at the end that were bailed out by an offensive rebound, I believe by Young. But he ends up on the court longer than ideal in other games. So who knows.

Would be great if we could sub for Chase on the fly, like a hockey team changes shifts. When we transition to defense, Chase jumps off the bench as Boo or Greer sprints off. Then on offense, Chase sprints to the bench as Boo jumps back in.

That only works because you have offsides in hockey. You'd need to add a rule change about not crossing half court when your team doesn't possess the ball.

This is fun.... let's totally re-invent the game here. What else?

He is a Frosh, Verge is a Sr. McGowens is competing against other Frosh for the award. I would guess that a couple times you have seen him against us and he we had him more under control. He is an exciting player to have on a team.

Audige, love him or hate him, does have the ability to get his own shot which others on the team do not. But getting them and making them are two different things. One thing if you are at the end of the shot clock but another if early when they should be higher % shots.

He has cut down on his shots as of late

They need to be cut further, especially when the game is on the line.

I wouldn’t sweat it. He is going to the league after this season. One and done. Late first rounder.
