This is what low embarrassment our fandom has got too. I hate these new fans wasn't anything like this in the 80's. Glad i got to be a part of the good and proud times of being a Cardinal fan. Now it just plain sucks because of the new fans mindest.
This is f’ing pathetic. Just had the worst tornado disaster in our state’s history and these entitled babies want people to donate to put up a damn billboard.
Much as I respect you - it’s silly to link the two. It’s a fools errand but, people have the right to spend their money as they see fit.
FTR - not the billboard - but the idea itself is not the worst I’ve heard. Been a long time scratching around in the wilderness since they bounced TJ.
Of course people can spend money however they want but I personally find this to be especially absurd. For one, he’s not coming back. But if people wanna piss money down their legs and give it to CBS Outdoors Media then go for it. I’ve seen a lot of silly Go Fund Me donation schemes but this is pretty high up there on the unworthy list.

i've never watch or attend any UL function again. and i'd throw away all my gear if TJ came back. he is 100% and the only reason UL is in any trouble at all, hired pitino, hired petrino, hired all his family members, treated UL like it was his piggy bank. loser, loser loser, don't bring back another retread loser!!!! he broke us financially, he broke us athletically, he broke us emotionally, he is a fffing loser!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tom jurich sucks, period
and did i mention that loser TJ hired kragpoops, his friend, his crony, and put us in the hole for years. then hired loser petrino again, and let him hire his family members to be coaches, wTF? jurich ruined UL and hsi name should be removed from everything, erase him completely, make his name persona non grata
Seems you remember a mistake or two but you forget all the hundreds of things he did. I know Tom isn’t coming back but I sure wish we never fired him. We lost hundreds of millions of dollars in donations by letting him in his FAMILY go. We are now in a situation when changes have to be made we don’t feel secure about it. I wish for the good ole days of Tom.
That's the problem with this fan base and school . Constant buddy system and not wanting to move forward with new people and ideas. Until this fan base and school excepts change for the better and stop living on the past we will continue to be in this bad spiral of dog crap. Amazes me that people are so stupid toowant an administration from the past that has put us in this bad position back. And only thing they can keep harping on is well he did this. Everybody does something good while in position. But you never let the good out weigh the bad either. And alot of bad happened. And they say theirs things that were done the school would be too embarrassed to even mention. Which involves Rick . Part of the reason he dropped things against the school he could not afford to let out. All which happened under Jurich .But as things are with society these days. People prefer the bad. Not me Tom is past history freaking move on . GEEZ!
The “trash” is gone and we should feel just absolutely wonderful with ourselves and our position. Just wonderful.

Umm - pretty sure the last four + years have all been “new people and new ideas” and to say the results have been mixed - would be extraordinarily generous.
Historically UofL has been a second tier athletics program - not all that surprising that fans who’ve been around longer than 20 minutes might not look wistfully back at all of the INCREDIBLE accomplishments during TJ’s tenure and, wish for those heady days again.
UofL is still in CUSA without Jurich. Ponder that for a freaking minute and then tell me why the fan base shouldn’t still be enamored with the guy and all he did for the university.
No one can say were we would be without Jurich no one. Easy too say after the fact. And Vince was hired off the very thing i stated old buddy system. Plus he also in the same breath was done in by that same system that refused to give him a fair shake also. Those Tom loyalist. And to be honest wasn't hard for any AD to look good after Olsen. Loved those years and guy. But he was past his time and had no vision for the future. Which happens in every program not just here. Tom did good things but he also left alot of collateral damage.
I'm fustrated with the things at present. However i'm not going to sit around like some old whinny lady and wish upon a star for some past history to be restored. Your either onboard or not as a fan. I choose to look forward and support change. Those that don't their is a team up the road they can always go root for.
I was also that fan whom was upset when and how Denny time ended here. However i wasn't so stupid too not realize Denny had lost passion for the game and he refused to adapt. So i was all onboard with change that was much needed. And this school right now is in a bad cycle of change that will be corrected. By those that except change and not going backwards.
I suppose that’s right - no one can say what crappy, second rate conference UofL would be in if not for Jurich. It is easy to say - especially if you’ve paid attention for the last 20 years.

I choose to look forward as well. But I don’t look forward to change that is unsuccessful and moves the university backwards. Those that can’t tell the difference - have as much sense as those fans of the “team up the road” that you’re so fond of referencing.
Couldn’t agree more. Anxiously awaiting replacements with the knowledge and pedigree pitino had when Jurich convinced him to take over the wreckage that was UofL basketball at that time.
You’re right we might still be in Conference USA but there are those who liked being the biggest fish or at least one of the bigger fish in a medium size pond than a small fish in a big pond. I think as fans and I am guilty as heck, that we would simply be successful in every situation and well, that hasn’t proven to be so, at least not yet… plus I’m not getting any younger. Cincinnati just showed you can get to the CFP by taking of your own business, not relying on other teams to be down.
Good points and - good for UC taking care of what they had to - to reach the playoffs. That said, UC absolutely benefited from P5 programs not winning games they should have / were favored in. The committee was looking for any excuse to bounce UC from the top four but the teams they wanted to slot kept on losing.
The additional downer to being one of the top G5 teams - is your coach is constantly being poached by P5 schools who offer better pay and facilities and that gap is just going to get wider. Despite their invitation to the B12 - we’ll all be shocked if Fickell is still UC’s coach when they make that jump.
That’s a legitimate point but Fickell is a Buckeye guy and I don’t see Day going anywhere unless he loses to Michigan again.
I don’t think we are a small fish in a big pond in the ACC. We are like a lot of programs right now struggling to move forward. I just hope it is short lived, all I know is when Jurich was in charge and we were in this situation we felt safe that the right decisions would be made. I just hope we don’t end up like Indiana, Nebraska or Tennessee to name a few.
I don't know if any of this matters based on how college athletics is moving forward. SEC will dominate, followed by the BIG10, then the rest to clean up the crumbs. When Texas and Okla enter the SEC in a few years, the college landscape will be changed forever.........unless there is separation from the NCAA and even then it will be an uphill battle unless things are re-calibrated. Not likely!!
