I am afraid that we are #2 or #3 for many recruits, but can not be #1 for some one and grab a commitment. Seems to be real possibility now. It seems that insiders say we are in good shape with multiple guys but actually lead for no one...
One thing I’ll have found out about Pope is he will get who needs to be here. Yes kids care about money but some also care about other stuff and no matter how much money runs stuff it will never change who Pope is. He loves Kentucky probably more than we do. He was the freaking captain of maybe the best college team ever in the history of college basketball. Who cares if we don’t land a single top recruit. I’m sure Pope appeals to the older players that have a couple years under their belt with a different out look on life. Yes he is gonna have to pay the players no matter what but I think he will pay the right players every single time and that is why I don’t have a worry in the world and have full trust in him leading the program I love so much. He will win big here. Hes already proven that in year one with what he had to work with.
Fast forward to year two and he has us freaking loaded? Like seriously we are talking in platooning again…
BBN has first hand experience that getting the top players evey single year isn’t the recipe. I’m sorry it isn’t they can’t win. Even Anthony Davis doesn’t have a championship if the nba doesn’t have a lock out and we had players stay to join Anthony Davis and MKG. Take Lamb and Jones off that team hell we might of been a ten seed or anything..
Is anybody even remotely worried about Pope getting players? Of course I would love to hear Tyran Stokes say I’m committing to the university of Kentucky but if he doesn’t along with others Pope will have a grown man in here next year either way. I trust Pope and am glad I can just enjoy UK basketball again. Matter of fact Cal showed is that having them shiny top recruits can also bring the program to all time lows…. All the talent in the world but maybe they were playing for the wrong reasons. There are kids that aren’t driven by money and will play for the name on the front of the jersey if you don’t believe it you didn’t watch last season and you haven’t been following this summer.
