Sitting at a Wild Wings to watch the Stillers since the Pats are the CBS game up here, and I realized that BWW is nothing but a dietary tax that you pay to watch out of town games.

Wings are meh. How do you build a huge business when your main product is meh?

Marketing. The commercials make you think it’s a must-go-to place to watch a game. But now that I think about it, the BWW commercials aren’t as ubiquitous as they used to be.

Check out Anchor Bar if you have one near you. For a chain they have pretty good wings. They were the originator in Buffalo NY and now have a bunch of locations throughout the US. In my city the best wing spot is a local place, but I'd put Anchor Bar at #2. Wings in general aren't as good here as in PA, and are less popular so maybe that's why.

They opened an Anchor Bar in NYC several years ago. The wings were nothing special, and don’t know if it even lasted a year.

Pre-covid we could get happy hour wings at the Thirsty Turtle in Juno for 50 cents. If they liked you they'd even let you take another order home for the same price.



Since then, the prices went up (at all restaurants) and never came back down. Buck and a half a wing now regardless of where you go - despite the fact that I can buy great raw wings at an Italian Market for $2.49/lb. on sale.

I think the wings at the Anchor Bar are pretty good. They are opening one up down here soon. Looking forward to it.

We have a B Dubs nearby and it's a ritual with my boys to get wings once a week. We pick them up, so we're not even paying for the beer and sports.

It's not great, but it's wings ... they make up for their mediocre quality with variety. And their hot sauce is actually very tasty. Their wings can be good ... just depends on who is cooking them. Sometimes they're well cooked and slathered in sauce, sometimes they're a bit overdone without as much sauce, sometimes there's too many drums and not enough flats. It's a chain. It happens.

We had a standout wing place around here, but a few years back they changed up their wings and they became half the size. Not worth it anymore.

Who makes REALLY good wings, ready to eat, is Fresh Market. A ton of meat and juicy. Best actual "wings" I've ever had. Only problem is, they don't have a variety of flavors (the heat on their typical buffalo is severely lacking), and they don't always have them made at all.

Thanks for the Fresh Market rec. I'm somewhat of a wings aficionado so I'm always on the lookout for good new wings. There's a Fresh Market not too near me, but close enough that I can make a pilgrimage at some point and try their wings while exploring some new territory.

Peripherally related, can someone please explain the NFL policy of constraining broadcasts to limited areas? Couldn't they make more money (and make fans happy) by simply making every game available to everyone? Is this a remnant from an earlier time?

They do...it's called NFL Sunday Ticket. The league makes more than $2,000,000,000 dollars for it every year.

Also, and I may be mistaken, but Sunday Ticket is what the name implies. Sunday for the games not shown in your TV marketing area. The games on streaming will cost you even more if you want to see those. This coming Black Friday the Eagles play the Bears on Prime. The NFL is mastered the art of squeezing money out of its product.

the Prime game will be available to all, I believe

No, a Prime subscription is not required. The Black Friday game is free for Amazon customers in the US. To stream the game, you’ll first need an Amazon account. Create a free account on the Account Registration page. Once logged in, go to the Prime Video app on your TV, computer, or mobile device, and you’ll see games on the Home page, Sports page, or under “live and upcoming events.”

Sunday ticket gets you all of the Sunday 1pm/4pm games that aren't on your local TV. There are also some rare occasions where you'll get a game that needed to be moved (more frequent during COVID, storms, etc).

They've definitely don more to sell some one-off games to other sources...ie, the early Saturday wildcard playoff game, Thursday nights, the 9:30am Euro games, Black Friday, Saturday games last in the season etc. It hasn't impacted me negatively as I already have everything that they've sold them too (Amazon, Prime, Peacock, NFL Network, etc). But I can see how it would be annoying to those that don't have them.

(side note...yesterday was the 1st time this season that I didn't watch a single minute of a specific NFL game...ended up at a bday party that had the Eagles game on, I had the Arizona/Jacksonville game on my phone, but didn't see any of the LV/CLE or ATL/NO games).

I know it's hard, but could you act like a grown adult for one day? @Tom McAndrew probably doesn't ban you simply because you'll create yet another username and come right back, but it's pretty f'ing pathetic that you go out of your way to post nonsense and try to ruin thread after thread. It really takes away from the enjoyment of this site. Really wish the moderation was able to cut down on the number of completely useless posters/posts.

PJ Whelihans around SEPA has decent Wings - they opened a BWW (not Hooters to help the illiterate but I guess spelling it out won't help after all) around here and went a few times but Wings really aren't very good.
