Being stuck 45 minutes outside of Knoxville, I like to make fun of Butch Jones/UT Football as much as anyone, but I just don't see this "home run" hire they seem to think is going to come flocking to Tennessee if they fire Butch. They haven't won more than 9 games in a decade, yet their fans still consider themselves as the elite in college football because they won one National Championship when the bulk of their current team was still in diapers/in the womb. Maybe I'm wrong and they'll find the guy that'll make them elite, but I see them being just as likely to go back to winning 5-6 games a season, if that if they fire Jones.

Also how fickle the college football fan can be, right? A month ago Butch Jones was being worshiped as a deity in Tennessee. People in East TN (Even kids & women!) were getting their hair cut like him. Now they "always knew he sucked!" :joy:

Haha !! They are quick to bash UK and Vandy..and Mizzou..but Vandy is 3-2 in their last 5 games vs UT...UK finished just one game behind UT when it comes to overall records..and UK doesn't have the top 5 recruiting classes..and Mizzou has won twice as many SEC East Titles as they have the last 10 years.

Landing those Top 5 recruiting classes does not mean you got Top 5 character, intellect, and determination. Recruiting is a lot more complicated than looking at the lists the Mike Farrells of the world build. UT underachieves because they have been recruiting underachievers, which is ironic, since their coach is an overachiever. By this, I mean only that he is not the sharpest tool in the coaching shed, but clearly a "Champion in Life".

They've found their Return to Glory Days short-lived. And Botch's seat is blue flame white hot nuclear chain reaction fiery crash and burn hot. But Vol fans can take solace in no more rapes this week....yet.

Have improved tremendously from first of the year, much like Kentucky, glad we played them when we did. They beat Ole Miss like a mule, beat Georgia on their home field and beat UT by 11 points. That is getting it done at Vandy.

They played UK tough at Commonwealth. Beat WKU in BG. But for UK's win yesterday, I would say they had a better season.

When you have a legitimate defense like Vandy, you can hang with anyone. Hope CMS fields a defense like Vandy's next year. UK played good in stretches, but still lack a pass rush and overall strong front 7. Fix those issues (not easy) and the sky is the limit for this football program.

Tip of the hat to Mason for staying the course.

You here that noise? The sound of Kentucky gaining on Rocky Top this off season. Team Turmoil's recruiting will suffer. Kentucky's recruiting should sky rocket.

It felt good for UT fans to blame injuries to the Texas AM loss and hammering by Bama. Even the loss to USC was a shakeup by fans but backing into a Sugar Bowl was keeping the wolves at bay . But losing to Vandy (and giving up 45 freaking points to their offense) is going to put Botch on hot seat.

Nevermind they got lucky as all get out to win on a prayer vs UGA. They might be the IU of football in fans that think they are elite but program never is in decades.

They still kicked our butts so not much to crow about. As for their fans, my brother-in-law is a huge Vol fan and says the team should vote to not even go to a bowl after being embarrassed by Vandy.

Vandy had 2 WRs with 100+ yards receiving....in the first half!

The stark realization has set in for UT fans. They are closer to Vanderbilt and UK than they are to Alabama. They had the perfect season in place, Fla and Bammer at home. Won miracle at UGA, won against App. St. They have Barnett who is best DL since Reggie, great RB's, high recruiting rankings, this was their year. They are screwed. A sitting duck AD, a coach who is really as Cincy or Houston coach not SEC top tier coach. They are in a bad way, no AD to make a change. No good coach is going to come there not knowing who he is going to work with.

This year was the year they had set up. They did not come close. I mean next year is going to be tough. I think Butch Jones is dead man walking. I think he may leave on his own, some even say he may go to Houston. I think this is the worst thing you can have, once you are on hot seat, you don't get off. Stoops was on hot seat in different terms, he had big buyout. Butch had to go to Atlanta, he is not going to make it.

Tennessee is now a middle of the road SEC program and that is all they have been for a while now. The only spot where UT remains elite is in the minds of UT fans.
