He was definitely talking about the descent, he said about Desmond but sounded skeptical I'm wondering too if he's thinking maybe Perry, Weiss or possibly a Watson?
Sealy does not look like a 15lbs drop would be easy, i haven't seen Watson since hs so idk about him. Also it seems Sealy is still trying for 157 which i do not blame him.

I didnt take it as him being skeptical. He says right after that Desmond big now and won't see 25 again

Watson was going to wrestle 165 at the Black Knight Invite. I don’t think 41 is anything remotely doable.

Listen to the end of the interview. Might Desmond wrestle a couple of matches at 141?

Cael interview
No. He's backing up 125 and 133 (emergency RS pull). Cael said he could, as a hypothetical fill out to 141, but then he'd never be able to descend to 125 come B1G tournament time (even though I don't believe that's necessarily true, even if it would be difficult).

Wyoming weigh in 141 on 12/13/25
B1G weigh in 125 on 03/07/26
That's 84 days.
Days to descend = (log base 0.985 of 141/125) * 7 = 56 days.

So hypothetically Desmond could wrestle 141 as late as Rutgers, which is 56 days before March 7.

That's how I was interpreting it as well.

FWIW: I’m team Pierce descending to 141–if Nagao is going to be out an extended period, and if he can.

And just to add to this, it's based off what he actually weighs in at. So even though it's the 141 weight class, he might only weigh in at 135-140 lbs. Then that's the number his descent plan would be based on.

Desmond at 141 is intriguing. I am not a big fan of undersized guys anywhere, but I think he gave us all a big double take 2 weeks ago

I don't see a world where you send a guy who can make 125 right now (let alone a true freshman) to 141 when you have a former B1G Champ and 133 AA from last year who has been preparing to go 141 this year anyways.

I suppose Cael has a plan.
I would have to go back and re-watch but didnt Cael say that Desmond will not go 125 anymore? So he could already be sitting at 133 or more?

That's how I took it..he literally said, "Desmond won't see 125 again." Based on that, I think they may give him a shot at 141 and see how he does.

yeah thats what I thought Cael said.... this may sense especially considering Cael said Desmond is redshirting so.... we are talking wrestling a handful of matches there.... until Nagao comes back... and having an entire year to put some weight on. Man the matches in that room have to be fun to watch!

Will someone other than [Cael Nasdeo] wrestle at 141 pounds?

Those are things we talk about. There are a lot of different factors when you're throwing guys out there because they have to do a weight descent. If somebody weighs in up, it takes them a month to get back down. A guy like [Nate] Desmond could wrestle [141]—he's a big kid—but then he's pretty much not going to wrestle [125] again. We have to be mindful of the weight descent and the different rules in place.
(12:02 - 12:43)

I think that means “if” Nate wrestled 141, he would not be able to compete at 125 again without a lengthy descent period.

And Cael expressed this about the time, when talking of Desmond, how good it is to know he has a AA candidate, who could compete for a title, in RS as a backup (implying should Luke get injured and a need arise at 125 or Blaze at 133).

I agree, Nate is likely the backup plan for both 125 and 133.

I found it interesting, though, that Cael brought Desmond's name into the conversation when asked about 141. The staff must have at least floated the idea.
And even if they didn't float the idea... you, and a bunch of coaches, are thinking about it.
