He was lined up to play the old Whiskey River nightclub (MWC/Spencer) area back in 1979. I tried to buy tickets and couldn't get them because I wasn't 21 and the venue sold liquor. (Yes, I tried all the tricks of the trade for an under-ager back then, but they weren't having any of it.)

Man, I would have loved to have seen him and the Attractions back in that time frame!

U sure that's why u couldn't get it? I remember going to Whiskey River to see Eddie Money back then and swore we had to bring our own bottles because it was in the old days before liquer was sold.

They furnished the cokes and water and we brought the whiskey.

When did liquer by the drink pass? The best I remember was around when Rimmington Park opened.

They didn't sell the whiskey, they sold the set-ups. But the rule, as they explained it to me was because they sold far more beer and set-ups than food, they had an age restriction. It may have been a rule of their own making just to avoid dealing with those under 21 getting drunk in their club and them having to deal with it. I just know they wouldn't sell me tickets and told me that they would be checking ID's thoroughly if I was thinking about having someone else buy them for me.

BOK tower, downtown Tulsa. Depending where you are on the floor you either get a crappy signal or none at all!
