Just as a reminder

1. Recruit future NBA players
2. Let them play one on one to show off their talents
3. Get them drafted into the NBA
4. Hopefully this leads to lots of wins, because we have lots of talent

UK’s players come first, and their draft status comes first, UK fans and the program come second.

That’s his method

Is this supposed to be insightful? This has been obvious since day 1. He's even publicly said it was his method.

People complain he can’t coach.. he has his method and is sticking to it.. he won’t change.. quit wasting time asking him to .. that’s the point.

People complain the players don’t play for the name on the jersey.. well, I’m not saying most all kids play hard.. cause they do, but they playing for the NBA. Most not playing for the state of Kentucky.. how can you, when your here for 5 months.

If you remember his press conference when he was hired. He said the secret is “getting really great players”. Second “get really great players”.

Uk basketball was great in the 40’sr-60’s
Great in the 70-80’s
90’s
2010 era
All are very different eras and the game changed each time

It’s changing again.. Cal may have a great team next year.. this year, I hope the players can turn it around, but next year should be a great chance at it..

Basketball is changing again.. can Cal’s method continue to hold up.. not without great players.

I'm not sure I can agree with #2

He has always been about moving the ball quickly and making your teammates look better. His studs never had to average alot of points to be drafted high because they all looked better collectively.

The problem he's run into is he just doesn't have a 5 man offensive flow. That leads to slow moving players or standing and watching 2 guys run screen and roll.

No offensive flow leads to one on ones with 5 seconds on the shot clock.

It's a fine system when it works. It's not when it doesn't. It's not working. We don't have NBA players. We have 1 sure NBA player and a couple maybes. That's not the "best of the best" that Cal promised to deliver.

Cal's horrible offense of just rolling the ball out works when he has 2 or 3 number one lottery picks because face it superior talent make any one look like a great coach but once the talent gap evens out like the last 4 or 5 years we see what kind of coach he really is average at best.

Cal changed college basketball with his method.. but when others started doing the same thing, it hurt us, but we are still the gold standard and Cal can still recruit.. but as UKbb4ever said, we don’t have those players this year.. but I do love our kids.. and I’ll route for them and their success..

I root like for them. I want Wheeler to play great. I want Toppin to play great. But the only ones I'm confident in playing great are Oscar and Cason.

The talent is just not there. These guys play hard. It looks like they aren't sometimes because they aren't playing smart. Toppin diving into the stands to save the right into the other teams hands. He did that 3 times against UCLA. Yes, it's playing hard. But it's dumb. It's a turnover either way. But it's a live ball turnover like that. Those are much worse. UCLA scored on all 3. Just no time, score, momentum awareness. And that's not a coaching problem. A guy either has that kind of instinct/IQ or he doesn't. We have a team full of doesn't.

What happens when he can't get the top players? What happens when he can't recruit the best and has to take transfers through the portal? That's not Kentucky basketball and Calipari is not a coach for this Program and the results prove this as fact. Calipari has fashioned Kentucky as a Program for his malfeasance.

I'm not very high on Cal at the moment.. but I always believed this was a system that he thought could "feed itself". I don't really think deep down he cares THAT much about say Trey Lyles in the NBA... that was more of the "lie". When in reality he played up the NBA thing because it was a bulletproof sales pitch, and so long as he had overwhelming talent, he could get wins.

I believe deep down THAT'S what Cal is obsessed with.. his record and image in college ball. The whole NBA thing is just a front, more or less.
