I wonder if NIL is going to end up making the leash longer for some coaches. You go ask boosters for $30M to terminate a coaching 5 years early, surely the boosters are going to wonder, should I agree to do this knowing the new coach is going to turn around and ask for more NIL, or should we just see if an extra $3M a year in NIL giving (so 50% less than the buyout) gets acceptable results. UK is already getting the talent, so that exact reasoning probably doesn't apply as much hear (nor would it have with Jimbo), but for schools that are looking to move from middling to pretty good, or pretty good to really good, instead of from really good to championship level, surely lots of boosters are going to decide that hiring better players will be a better bet than paying somebody to not coach to hopefully upgrade with the next hire.
