Call me a cynic -- but I'm guessing the NCAA....

....just breathed a HUGE sigh of relief.

• The tournament had a lot of upsets.
• The final game exciting and had two unbelievable shots in the final seconds.

AND

• UNC did not win.

If UNC had won, the spotlight on the current and past academic scandals would have been intensely bright and the lingering lack on any conclusion embarrassing for everyone -- themselves, UNC, and college sports in general.

So now when they don't do anything to UNC it won't be AS embarrassing. Maybe it's me, but I think they dodged a bullet.

Call me a cynic if you like, that's just how I see it.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I've thought for a long time that they get by largely unscathed.
