Wow. Illinois has some football tradition and plays in the BIG TEN and they are getting a facelift on the stadium in a couple years; expanding the capacity. I can see the attraction for a recruit. Remember just 10 years ago Illinois got 5 stars (Ron Zook was the man); Arrelious Benn and Martez Wilson. The most confusing part is the fact a kid with that kid of talent wants to go play for Lovie Smith. I don't see Lovie being at Illinois much long.

Illinois? Really? WTH?
Not sure we should be talking about Illinois. In Riley's time we lost to them. That is a game that will be played at coaches clinics until Kingdom come about how NOT to run out the clock when you have the lead. Then last year we were behind in the 4th quarter...and we got one of the most favorable spots in the history of the game on a what should have been a failed 4th down near the goal line in the 4th quarter. That game easily could have been a loss as well.

I knew it was only a matter of time before someone piped up about this. Who woulda thunk it would be you? Never mind that Illinois has been a perennial also ran for pretty much their entire existence.

Refresh my memory but wasn't that also the play that Tommy didn't listen to the coaches and threw the ball instead of running it??

Academic problems? For sure? He is going into engineering at one of the best engineering schools in the country. Maybe he just liked what Lovie was telling him.

We are 50 times the program Illinois is. However, they have played us even-Steven recently. Probably best for us to not talk smack against them right now.

Yes, just yes, he actually said it. He has a great sense of humor and is what you'd call politically incorrect. Very funny and a good guy.
I sometimes get international emails at work and am mystified at how anyone could learn to write Chinese. Looks way too hard with all the symbols..etc...o_O

Isn't that the truth, unless you grew up writing it or take to it rather easily.

why are you doing that? Isn't it clear that trans-Tom wants it to be on the coaches?

I honestly don't know how Tom puts up with such a negative wife. I don't know if I could be in a relationship with somebody so pessimistic.

Can you imagine Mary Kay parties?

"That color isn't really becoming of you. Actually, I can't imagine a color that IS becoming of you."

"Who did your hair? Your 2rd grade daughter?"

"That blouse is really tragic. What, did Wal Mart have an 85% off sale?"

When can we stop blaming Tommy or Bo Can't wait for that decade.
Pretty sure tommy wouldn't have been brought up in this thread if Tonya hadn't made the comment about the coaching clinic for the rest of history...

If you want to blame someone blame him, errr, her.

We stopped recruiting him and he even said as much. We may well regret it, but it is what it is.

I was the thinking more along the lines of:

'Are you hung over again? Because you look like Carl after a Tuesday night.'

'Bo would have had a better sermon, Tom.'

'Why is the congregation shrinking?'

'I've never loved you.'

Watts, not Thomas but ya

Curious if he can qualify, does he still end up at Illinois or do other options open back up

Seems like qualifying issues (and sometimes character issues) are the reason when a guy with a good offer list chooses a lesser program. Wouldn't be surprised if most of Avery's offers are no longer committable.
