Commitments from players far removed from OU's main recruiting turf who commit a year or more ahead of signing day mean very little, or at least much less than players from Oklahoma and Texas.
With Kendall, Murray and Robison on the roster, this may have figured into Rising's decision to flip....as well as being a pocket passer with 4.8 40 speed. No doubt Texas coaches saw this as an opening to sway Rising.
Texas now has Rising and Casey Thompson (Charles Thompson's son and Kendal Thompson's brother) coming in next April. I believe Herman will resurrect Texas within 2-3 years and his recruiting will greatly improve. Texas's class for 2018 has only 4 commitments and is ranked 24th right now with Rising's addition, but by February, no one will remember this.
With Rising and Thompson gone, I will be interested to see if OU finds another QB for its 2018 class or will pass on finding one. My guess is that OU will find one because of the importance in bringing in at least one QB each year.....and because OU's recruiting in the last 2-3 years has been much better due to a revamped coaching staff.
Kendall and Murray are sophomores and Robison is a true freshman which means Kendall and Murray will be a seniors in the 2019 season and Robison will be a senior in the 2020 season or the 2021 season if he's redshirted.

There is a kid named Rattler at Pinnacle HS in north Phoenix that is very high on OU. I was told that this kid idolizes Mayfield and has a scrambling game much the same as Baker. Let's see what happens.

Not sure what is going on with recruiting. Rising, Wease and Henderson decommit. Then add in state safety Proctor committing to tOSU. OU has lost a lot of positive momentum.

OU better get Tatum over Bama

You 100% sure about that? Herman must not have much faith in the QBs Texas has on campus right now if he is willing to recruit TWO QBs in the 2018 class.

Probably, because he only has 2 scholarship QB's on campus. It has nothing to do with faith, it's about numbers. You're failing, in this thread.

OU is pretty loaded at QB the next 3-4 years anyways. Texas is wide open. Maybe this kid had 2nd thoughts about competition at the position.

I'll explain to you why this is asinine.

Baker Mayfield is going to leave, and the OU job would have been wide open when Rising stepped on Campus.

Shane Beuchele will have been starting for two years at Texas.

"2nd thoughts about competition," I laughed.

He flipped, because he knows it is about to be a Texas Takeover.

Yet your starting Q-B couldn't even beat Kansas, let alone get them to a bowl game.
:(

Not concerned with what happened under Strong, the QB was not to blame, and he was playing with an injury. He still set a UT freshman record for yards and TD's, I'll take the upside.

So what is your point anyway? I take it you don't have one, and you're bumping your gums, because billyray was wrong. The OU job will be more wide open, next season. If I am not wrong, what is your point? Didn't think so.

So facts don't equate points in your world. Okay, got ya...

BTW, I like your Q-B. I watched four or five of your games last year. He looked pretty good, but he can't do it alone.

He won't have to. He has plenty of talent to work with.

Well if he was actually concerned about the short term numbers, why not go after a high school QB, then fill the other scholarship with a JUCO kid that is already further along?? So sorry, but not much failing going on in this thread at all.

So then did Herman already name his starting QB coming out of spring ball?

FAIL AGAIN, he TRIED to bring in a QB that was further along. Haha, you continue to fall flat on your face. The hole gets deeper and deeper. Before you reply in ignorance again, know that are several variables involved, in situations like this. I'm glad you let that "wide open" talk go. That was a complete fail, as OU won't have a QB with starting experience next year, and Texas will. But you followed up that fail, with more fail. Stop it... just say you're ignorant to what is going on at Texas.

Have fun at your bowl game the 2nd Saturday of October, texux

That's some lame smack you got there. Texas has beat that a$$ more times than not. It's not even close. Enjoy your probation... it's like OU is never not on probation, so I just assume you are at all times. By the way the way, Lil Game Stoops chokes in bowl games, so you should be glad that it is not a bowl game. And he choked against Herman. Haha!

Yeah we're all aware of what happened in this series, texsa greed causing the failure of the SWC, driving out your huckleberry aTm, Nebby, Mizzou and Colorado. Enjoy watching your lone Natty in modern times with Vince Wonderlic weekly on the miserably failing LHN.

Unless Herman named Shane the starting QB in the last few days, then you are the only one ignorant as to what's going on at Texas. Just a week ago, I read where Herman said even the QB job at Texas remains open.

Scholz you crack me up!!!! :D:D:D

Well with what I have been reading and hearing, Texas appearing to be more "wide open" than what Rising saw at OU is very much at play here. Rising pretty much got scared off from possible competition that may keep him on the sidelines, that he saw a MUCH more fertile ground at the chance to start at Texas...hence the flip. But go ahead Scholz and keep on believing what you want to believe. You fail over on Orangebloods(hence your ban)...so may as well continue your failing over here as well(how many usernames have you been banned under on this board failboy??) LOL :D:D:D

Man @BillyRay, you sure know how to put a floater in the pool, and we know this one definitely isn't a Baby Ruth.
