Can we finally beat Butler?

We've played them plenty, all during the last two decades, and have lost every time.

Can we get that monkey off our back? If the football team finally won a game at Wrigley, maybe we can finally beat Butler.

This will be another great game. Butler is really good. They beat Virginia to win the Greenbrier tournament. The Gonzaga transfer and Bijack are playing well. Plus the game is in Indy. Will take top effort.

Interesting that they were one of the four teams at Greenbriar and while we did not play them there, we play them later

The transitive property is not our friend. They beat South Carolina by 7 and Virginia by 7.

We can whine about last year, that call was BS, but we did not deserve to win that game. We played like dog poop.

Maybe Butler is going the same route of last year. They had a decent pre-season, just to perform horribly as they got into conference. Saying they are good is, IMO, premature. Their transfer portal additions look, on paper, just ok.

Butler will be coming off a game at UConn 4 days before us. I guess I hope that either they beat UConn and have a let down against us, or they get crushed by UConn and start feeling demoralized.

If we beat butler. I predict we will make ncaa tourney at end of season. Butler is really good this year. My niece is a senior there. She thinks nu will lose by 20+

I pay a fair amount of attention to Butler as I go to 1/3 to 1/2 of their games. They were consistently picked bottom 1/3 for this season. They win some games and it seems like they are magically great.

Last season they were good in pre-season, horrible in the Big East. On paper they are not an impressive roster. I like them as a fan, but I’m not optimistic.

Last season when they played a tournament they were 5-1 with wins against power programs MS State and NU. Bad loss against Austin Peay.

This season they are 7-1 with wins against VA and SC. Loss to SMU.

We are currently almost dead balls on tied with them in the KenPom. Another key OOC test... but we have equally big games with OK St and OSU first, to say nothing of an early chance to score a resume topping type win at Wisconsin. This season is going to be one battle after another.

Or we could just learn to rebound and be frigging incredible.

She is going to be a rn with a masters degree. I told her I think nu will win by 2 points. But no, she never played basketball

Nurses are the unsung heroes of our healthcare system. I would recommend pursuing a career as a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist. They have rewarding careers and a family friendly lifestyle. Young nurses usually get terrible shifts that precludes a "normal lifestyle" It takes years to get seniority and day shifts. Many hospitals offer 3 x 12 hour shifts per week, that are another acceptable alternative.

Seems to me that a Nurse Anesthetist would be a great job as long as you don't mind starting pretty early in the morning. Don't they usually always work with he same Doctor? Or are they on a team that rotates.

There are usually multiple attending anesthesiologists in a hospital , that monitor the NPs.The ideal NP position is in a high volume outpatient surgery center. The patients are generally healthier and the hours are predictable 7AM to 5PM. - this allows for a reasonable social or family life

She wants to teach young nurses the trade at a community college called Harper college in palatine. And yes, I think she will be very good at her job. Jfyi, my wife is a rn as well. And my sister in law was a nurse practitioner based out of clinic at walgreens during pandemic. Now she is at emergency room at local hospital

Harper's got some great programs. My step-mother taught there for 20 years and we've been involved in some of their music outreach programs as well. Can't say enough about the impact of a strong community college.

They aren’t very good. I’m a season ticket holder (wife was a butler cheerleader back in the day). They’re not very good at all. I’d be shocked if they are in the tourney field.

This game is a ways out and it’s weird to me we’re discussing it so heavily with other big games in the meantime, but Butler is now ranked solidly ahead of NU in the KenPom - a nearly two point superiority - and is solidly favored with the game at home. They’re gonna be like 4.5 pt favorites if things don’t change, which they will.

Sure, I’m not disputing which team is better. I’m just saying that Butler isn’t a great team and I don’t think they’re going to make the tourney. Just throwing that out in the context of people treating them as a barometer game.

They’re probably one of like 5-6 Met barometer games before Jan 1, of which 2-3 we’ve already had
