Can you see either White, AOC or Jordan redshirting?

If Stanley and Hurt sign this week Duke will have 11-12 guys looking for PT.
I know it is a crazy notion but Can you think White or maybe Alex should consider a redshirt?
With Bolden, Javin, Hurt and Carey on board [barring injury] I cannot see much PT for White as the 5th big. He could work on his shooting/ defense for a year and perhaps be a starter in 2020 since Duke may not return any big. As for Alex he could spend a year getting stronger like JJ Redick .

K will continue to overrecruit those three so I’m not sure I see a benefit to either party other than getting another year of tuition paid for.

Better for Duke to get them off the books and redistribute the scholarship

I could actually see some merit in redshirting Jack White. With a crowded lineup, it's likely he wouldn't receive meaningful minutes. Bolden & DeLaurier will graduate, Carey & Hurt are likely OAD. We won't have any bigs with experience in the 2020-21 season. I'd actually be in favor of redshirting White. With those four gone, there should be plenty of minutes to snag in 2021.

Jordan is what he is. He was never going to come to Duke and get the keys and he knows that. He has exceeded expectations as far as I'm concerned. Im not sure what redshirting does for him.

I know it is early but Duke does not seem to be the favorite for any PF or C for 2020.
Kessler looks to be the only current target. If they sign Boston and Johnson they will have length at SG and SF. I am thinking not only would Jack get more time in 2020 he would have a much better chance to be drafted [ if he became a 40 percent 3 pt shooter]. Moore is 7th on one 2020 NBA mock draft [if he is OAD ]giving Jack a chance for more minutes . Who knows maybe his shot will return over the summer and he will earn good minutes next season.

I agree with you about Jordan . Unless Alex can get more physical I think he will be sitting on the bench especially versus man defenses.

Its crazy at one point last year I was like "Jack has a future in the NBA and I could see him getting drafted next year" At his size shooting the way he did along with his defense and knack for making so many plays that dont show up on the stat sheet I was sold. Well crap didn't hit the fan it broke the damn thing! Idk what the hell happen to him.

I think Jack White's future will be in the Australian League and if I were he, I'd want to get there after 4 years not 5.

As for AOC, he is still physically immature. I guess it's up to what his career plans are. He may not want a basketball career after college and may be anxious to move on.

Sometimes we forget that for the non OAD's, there is more to their career planning than playing basketball.

A year off could do wonders for him. All year he had some great rebounds and blocked shots. He just needs to get that shot dropping and get better driving the ball to the hole.
Perhaps returning home and playing for Australian National Team is one of his main goals. I wish him nothing but success after his time at Duke is over.

I don’t see white red shirting. Posters forget he gave up money overseas to attend Duke. Goldwire just needs a more polished offense to go with his good defense.
If Alex hasn’t red shirted yet he’s not gonna do it as a Junior.

There is something going on in the background imo, that hasn’t leaked out yet.
Duke is basically three deep at every position except Center.

I often complained about lack of depth but if everyone stays this will be the deepest Duke team ever.
Jones, Moore, Ellis , Stanley & Carey playing a 2-2-1 press would be lethal.

No way I see a senior and co captain White redshirting, and agree "something is going on in background" we're not privvy to.

The deepest team ever, no question, is the '98 team. Not even close. You had 8 McDonald's All Americans on the roster (Price, Wojo, Langdon, Domzalski, James, Brand, Battier, Burgess). On top of that, you had McLeod (1st Round pick), Avery (1st Round Pick), Carrawell (2nd Rd Pick/2000 ACC POY), and Mike Chappell (top 40 player, later transferred to MSU & won a title in 2000).

I doubt either will redshirt. Jack is a Senior. Imo if we do land Stanley, I honestly believe Alex O will look to transfer. Jordan is in a good position because he is a PG and he knows who he is behind. I believe Ellis will be used mainly as a SG, so Jordan will get the backup PG minutes. Unless Alex has a freakish off season, I believe the physicality of Stanley puts him behind him, but I hope he does have a great off season. I'm a big Alex O fan.

If one more person says that a next year's(any next year's)Duke team will be "the whatever Duke team ever" again I may go crazy.

Since the OaD era, we have literally NO CLUE what type of team we will have or how K will utilize their talents until we are into that actual next season.

No way Jack redshirts. He's our Senior Captain next year. He's gonna get back to early season form this Fall, and we will all be saying "if we had THIS Jack in March/April we would have cut down the nets in 2019".

I think/hope Alex and Joey stay and play and both contribute next year, but if anything, they would transfer, not redshirt IMHO.

I really hope we don't lose Alex. If Stanley comes and Alex goes, it is a sign the coaches have given up on AOC. I know you have to earn things, but Alex could have a nice junior year if he puts in the work. I hate to see guys leave, esp. junior year.

Joey and/or AOC should redshirt. I just do not see neither of them getting meaningful minutes.

Jordan is a wild card. He plays good D, vocal, and can give you that boost of energy. He and Tre's on court chemistry can win us some tight games.

Yea Tre should be the only captain. I see Jack minutes being much less next year. Kind of like his minutes at the end of this year. Javin Bolden and Carey. Then we have Moore Hurt and Stanley on the wings.

If you follow AOC on Instagram, then you can see he just posted a video of "what's to come." He ain't going anywhere, 100% will be back at Duke next year.

I inquired a couple days ago, and apparently that’s the thought. He’s not happy with his minutes but understood the feedback and wants to be a man on a mission. But now is the hard part. Prove it.

The advantage of White redshirting would be that he would be the only returning player over 6 ft 6 in 2020. Play 5-8 minutes a game next year or maybe 25 per game in 2020-2021 . I know things will change but right now Kessler is only Duke big target in 2020.
