I would say he had a case if he was vegan for serious medical reasons (like you wouldn't feed a guy with a severe peanut allergy only food with peanuts in it), but I am assuming that is not the case, so this guy is a moron.

If the complaint were written like an American Civil War letter:

His Excellency Thomas J Leblanc

President Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario

Headquarters of Ontario Firefighters Brigade near Forest Fire, BC, July 8, 2018.

Mr. President,

My letter of yesterday should have informed you of that I am a practicing vegan. Since leaving Saskatchewan I have endured many hardships due to being offered a carnivore diet. I have become famished and malnourished. My condition is poor and my confidence impaired.

When crossing the Yukon river into Ontario, I had calculated upon having tofu and hummus available, so as to enable me to fill my belly, but a series of mishaps with the catering trucks means that the tofu and hummus are delayed for at least a week.

I shall therefore have to protest the nourishment that my commanders and comrades offers me, whether it be cheese or meat. As of now the fate of all forest creatures is in the hands of the Sovereign Ruler of the universe and known to him only, I deem it prudent to make every arrangement in our power to send the tofu and hummus trucks to the front line at once. .

I am most respectfully your obedient servant, Adam Knauff, Firefighter

This is my favorite part:

Things came to a head on July 23 when he was looking forward to a big barbecue dinner, where vegan burgers would be served. But, he wrote, the chef handled beef patties before touching the vegan patties with the same gloved hands.

If you pass on dinner because of that, you ain't hungry.
If it was an allergy thing, for some people simply not changing gloves could trigger an allergic reaction. All it can take is a crumb or some residue to trigger that reaction. When I worked in the restaurant industry in college, we had to put on new gloves and use separate dishes/containers/utensils that were only used for allergens whenever we had to prep food for someone with an allergy.

Tim Hortons has a Gardan Salad, a Harvest Vegatable Soup, Oatmeal, Hashbrown, Bagels, Fruit, Croissants, and Muffins that surely have no animal product/byproduct in it other than maybe the salad dressing, which can easily be withheld or substituted for one without an animal byproduct. Why couldn't they just give the man some of that?

But still the guy is being a bit of a *****.

He got one thing right. No one takes his "ethical beliefs" seriously. He should go fight fires in some of those African **** holes where all they have to eat is dirt. Canadians are too nice. That's why their government is even more effed up than ours.
