Candid Coaches: Who is the best X's and O's coach in college basketball right now?
Coaches told Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander that Matt Painter and Dan Hurley should top this list

Pope just needs to win to shut up the critics and then they will stop.Pure anti-UK nonsense.
I would not say Hurley is one of the top 10 when it comes to X's and O's from what I have seen, Top 20 maybe.![]()

True but last year pretty well speaks for itself.Pope just needs to win to shut up the critics and then they will stop.
He already has won in just his first year. He beat more ranked teams than anyone and did it with less athleticism than almost every team he faced.Pope just needs to win to shut up the critics and then they will stop.
Yep. Sampson and Barnes also too low.Garbage! I mean, Oats and Pitino both at 2%?! Pope not even mentioned. Lmao GARBAGE!

He has to win first big. They won’t put him on these list until he wins the SEC a few times and makes a final four. Then he will be all over them.Garbage! I mean, Oats and Pitino both at 2%?! Pope not even mentioned. Lmao GARBAGE!
Need rings...so SEC title, no NCAA title. It's early, so he has time, but we only care about banners here.
I know no Pope and Pitino at 2% like give me a break....Garbage! I mean, Oats and Pitino both at 2%?! Pope not even mentioned. Lmao GARBAGE!
But did they watch the three Bama games, the Ohio St game, or the loss to the Vols in the tourney? I get it, there's a section of the fanbase that's seriously got Pope love goggles on. I'd like to see him win something that matters before I anoint him among the best. Btw, before you guys sharpen your pitchforks, I thought he did a really good job last season.apparently theses coaches didn't watch last year's Duke game or Gonzaga
Lol! Tough crowd, I guess. We layed an egg with Oh. St and they probably played their best game all year. Nonetheless, given all of the challenges we faced last season, starting on Pope's first day...I really can't say a bad word about last season at all. FWIW, we are a .500 team in the game preceding Christmas break over a 10 year span, many against even lesser competition than Oh. St. That stat should speak volumes to whoever our coach is.But did they watch the three Bama games, the Ohio St game, or the loss to the Vols in the tourney? Painter is the highest at 19% so there is no real consensus of who are the best X and Os - so a meaningless article really.![]()
