i was wondering if others have heard their Tarhole friends saying their own team sucks. I was talking to two friends today and one said he was ready to start pulling for Maryland (lol), the other was speechless and was just shaking his head. It may have had something to do with me showing them Duke's incoming freshman and Carolinas incoming freshmen.

We should be really good this season, but the next few we will suck. Most Carolina fans are in denial, we cannot get a top recruit right now, Kentucky got one in our back yard. Wish the Ncaa would decide so we can move on. I respect coach K and the Duke program, hope we can get back to that level.

They have a shot to have a pretty special season. Right now they need it for their psyche.

Brice Johnson and Justin Jackson are going to be great this season, but they're both gone after that. We'll see after that.

Then they're either 10 years old or not real UNC fans. RamHard pretty much nailed it.- have a few diehard UNC friends and they all say the same thing- putting their eggs all in this year's basket, b/c after that it's not looking too promising until this stuff blows over.

Yeah, I'm hearing the same stuff...it's the Heels turn to win a natty. Yeah, it's happened a couple (or three) times that either Duke or UNC won after the other rival did...but I wouldn't hold out hope for that happening again. UNC is going to be good, probably very good, but until they show me that they have the emotional fortitude needed at the end of games...I'm not buying the talk of a FF, let along a title.
Time will tell.

Some of our fans are idiots, they need to face the truth we will not sign any top players until this ncaa crap ends. I notice Roy offer some lower rated players, we may be able to sign them. Giles and Bam,Smith will not be at Carolina, all we have is this season, hopefully we win the championship.

It's not just the prospect of NCAA sanctions. It's Roy. The perception on the recruiting trail is that if you're an elite talent , unx ain't for you. For example , 4 of the ESPN top 20 2014 class were one & done. Only 6 will be sophs:

8 Jackson (unc)
10 Pinson (unc)
14 Whitehead
16 Copeland
17 Berry (unc)
20 Blackmon

Also , in the classes of 2009, 2010, and 2011 the highest RSCI rated player to NOT be one & done were all unx guys. Others similarly ranked are in the league gettin' paid while , for example , Henson (2009) and McAdoo stayed 3 years. McAdoo , of course , saw his draft stock drop off the face of the earth by staying. Roy shoulda pushed 'im out the door when his stock was high following his freshman year. Heck , ya got guys like Tokoto and Bullock having to tear themselves away from there. anyway , ya get the point. Great article on it here. #'s don't lie...
