Spain's richest region wants their independence. Thoughts? Would we (current gov't) recognize Catalonia as a sovereign nation? Should be an interesting weekend in ol' España.

We can’t even have our own sovereign nation until the Lowe’s wall goes up

The smart play for Spain is to grant the sovereignty and then invade to conquer afterwards, seize all of their assets and incarcerate everybody but their hot chicks. That’s how you leadership

We would not recognize Catalonia unless and until there was a worldwide consensus to do so, which is not happening anytime soon.

There seems to be a lot of support for independence from right-wing message boards. Which is totally understandable- stick it to the EU, the globalists, pro-nationalism, etc. But this situation is not so simple. There are many in Catalonia, possibly a majority, who do not support independence. Moreover, the large part of the independence movement is far left (the region as a whole is far left, the California or Seattle metro of Spain), and they'd sell out their independence to the EU (and eventually to the Caliphate) no faster than they get it.
