Good basketball news (for a change): The Cats made the Top 10 for 4-star, Rivals100 forward William Jeffress of Erie (Pa.) McDowell. He recently reclassified to 2020.

Love it! That is an eclectic list! Stanford, Memphis and Baylor probably don't go head to head too often for recruits.

He's listed as power forward, but at 6-7, 195, he looks more like a wing player. We could use another one of those for next year's team, but that would leave us only one spot for the heralded 2021 class.

Gaines, Turner, and Spencer will be gone, leaving 8 scholarship players from this year's team who will still be around in 2021. Add three 2020 recruits for 11. That leaves two spots.

What makes you say Gaines will be gone?

This kid is a stud - I've seen him play several times. Very bright and is able to re-classify because of taking AP courses as well as college courses on-line. Mother is a physician - OB GYN. Older sister won City Tennis Championship 4 times. Really young and will undoubtedly grow. Plays a lot of guard now and is essentially unguardable 1 on 1. I believe this will be his third year of being first team All State in Pa.'s highest division. On a sort of related note, Ryan Young's mother is also from Erie. She was a great player here and is 6'4". Maybe she or Ryan can give William a little nudge. William plays at the same high school that produced Steelers running back James Conner.

Sure seems like we are recruiting pretty aggressively for only a few spots. I realize NU can’t put all of their eggs in the PBJ/Christie basket, but how long can they wait for the decision? Personally, I never have felt there is much of a chance for the big 2, but recent quotes at least let us dream. There appears to be a decent back up plan and I hope at late non-NU decision by the big 2 wouldn’t cripple us with the back ups.
