UK wins by a count of 6-2. Zack Brown goes 6 and 1/3 for the win. Big relief effort by L Salow and Z Strecker, who each had a bases loaded and 1 out scenario, Salow got a 5-2-3 DP in the 7th, and Strecker got a 4-6-3 DP in the 8th.
UK got HR's from D Hairston a 3 run job, and K Tom and also got a 4 hit game from K Barrett. Cats are now 27-21 overall, and are 12-12 in SEC play. Tomorrows game will be at 2:00 pm.

Listened to part of the game on the UGA network. Their announcers are a hoot, referred to Zack Brown for UK and Tyler Hicks for the Dawgs as the music combo, and Storm Wilson as ' Lexington's favorite meterologist ' had never heard that duo call a game, they are lively !

Huge weekend for the Big Blue!

A sweep vs. Georgia combined with a series win at Missouri (next weekend) would all but wrap up a NCAA tourney bid. Not sure they HAVE to go 5-1, but it would make me feel a lot better about their tourney chances.

GBB!!!

A sweep of UGA would put us at 14 wins in SEC play, with our RPI in the mid 30's and a top 15 Strength of schedule, we would pretty much be a lock for the NCAA tourney. A win over NKU tuesday, and at least 1 win vs Mizzou next weekend would seal the deal IMO.

Recruiting has always been pretty solid with Henderson. I think he has trouble with player development and game management though.

Georgia scores again in the fourth. Beggs having his worst outing of the season. Pretty typical for UK over the years.

6-1 Dawgs. Disappointing to see an effort like this one with so much on the line. They've got the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the 5th. At this point, with Beggs struggling, and him staying in the game, it looks like Henderson is chalking this game up and saving the bullpen to try to win the series tomorrow.

UK lost 12 to 3 and may have lost Dwyer to an injury. Not a good day for the boys in blue.

Some good things... Mississippi State is currently going for the sweep of Ole Miss, and may have completed it as I type this. That will put Ole Miss at 13-14. UK will be 12-13 after today with a chance to get to 13-13 tomorrow. A win there would put UK above of Ole Miss in the standings going into the last weekend where Ole Miss will have to play Texas A&M. More good news is that Auburn has now lost the two opening games to Alabama. That puts them at 12-14. The one game difference there in the loss column puts UK up half a game and is huge right now. Missouri and LSU's first pitch will be in about 10 minutes, and a loss there by Mizzou will bring them to 14-12. They will be hard to catch, but if LSU sweeps them and UK beats UGA tomorrow then we could even pass them next weekend. So, we could possibly finish as high as 6th. The UT/Arky game was postponed. They, I suppose, will play a DH tomorrow and TN wins could further move UK up in the league.

Again, I think as long as UK finishes in the top 8 or 9 of the SEC they will get into the NCAA tournament. We came into today ranked 8th in the SEC. I believe we are now actually 7th thanks to MSU sweeping Ole Miss. Auburn and South Carolina have to play Florida and LSU respectively, so they will have a hard time finding some wins next weekend, but it's certainly possible they do so. Nonetheless, UK just needs to get a win tomorrow and a win or two next weekend and they will probably finish at least 8th in the SEC. They do that and at least have a decent showing at the SEC tournament, win at least one I'd say, and they will get into the NCAA tournament. I can't remember when the SEC didn't at least get 8 teams in, so I don't think that this year would be different.

I spoke too soon on ole miss. The bulldogs choked away a five run lead in the 9th and lost in extras.

Shelby puts one over the left field wall to put UK up 1-0 here in the bottom of the 4th. Cody pitching extremely well so far.

Cody makes an attempt to go the distance, but gives up a 0 out home run in the top of the 9th that ties the game at 1. Left one right down the middle of the plate. Cody now leaving the game and UK going to the pen.

Dawgs have runners on first and third with 2 outs in the top of the 10th. Zach Logue now coming on to try to shut the door.

Logue gives up a single into center that plates two runs to give Georgia the 3-1 lead. Still two outs. This all started from a freaking 2 out infield single that popped behind the pitcher and died.

Henderson making the change once again... I hate even watching him go out there to put out another struggling pitcher.

Spencer Jack comes into the game and hangs a breaking ball for a 3 run home run to give UGA a 6-1 lead. Just ridiculous. 5 runs with two freaking outs. Terrible bullpen. Terrible.

At some point, all of these seasons of missing the NCAA tournament will count for something in getting rid of Henderson. Barnhart will eventually have to get rid of him. Probably more later than sooner though.

I can't really express how mad I am about the play of this weekend. Just no excuse for not taking the series against one of the worst teams in the SEC.

Agree 100%, after Friday's win over UGA the Dawgs had lost 14 of their last 16 SEC games, once again 14 of 16 games lost. This was an RPI killer, and barring 3 wins in the last 4 games, an NCAA tourney killer.

Thud. Henderson coached teams have a real knack for fading at the end of the regular season. Very disappointing series loss that will likely cost them an NCAA bid unless they can somehow win 2 or 3 at Mizzou.

Pitching in critical situations is terrible! Henderson is supposed to be a pitching coach, but we've not had an SEC pitching staff, especially relief pitching since he's been the head coach. Need to make a change,UK should be in the upper third the SEC.
