Some good things... Mississippi State is currently going for the sweep of Ole Miss, and may have completed it as I type this. That will put Ole Miss at 13-14. UK will be 12-13 after today with a chance to get to 13-13 tomorrow. A win there would put UK above of Ole Miss in the standings going into the last weekend where Ole Miss will have to play Texas A&M. More good news is that Auburn has now lost the two opening games to Alabama. That puts them at 12-14. The one game difference there in the loss column puts UK up half a game and is huge right now. Missouri and LSU's first pitch will be in about 10 minutes, and a loss there by Mizzou will bring them to 14-12. They will be hard to catch, but if LSU sweeps them and UK beats UGA tomorrow then we could even pass them next weekend. So, we could possibly finish as high as 6th. The UT/Arky game was postponed. They, I suppose, will play a DH tomorrow and TN wins could further move UK up in the league.
Again, I think as long as UK finishes in the top 8 or 9 of the SEC they will get into the NCAA tournament. We came into today ranked 8th in the SEC. I believe we are now actually 7th thanks to MSU sweeping Ole Miss. Auburn and South Carolina have to play Florida and LSU respectively, so they will have a hard time finding some wins next weekend, but it's certainly possible they do so. Nonetheless, UK just needs to get a win tomorrow and a win or two next weekend and they will probably finish at least 8th in the SEC. They do that and at least have a decent showing at the SEC tournament, win at least one I'd say, and they will get into the NCAA tournament. I can't remember when the SEC didn't at least get 8 teams in, so I don't think that this year would be different.
