UK takes a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, Pompey draws a lead off walk, comes around to score on Squires double, Squires was gunned down trying to stretch it to a triple. Aklinski grounds out, and Becker strikes out to end the inning.

Good way to start. Hopefully Harper has a much better day than he had on Saturday.

Hey, the Cats get 2 solo blasts from Cottam and Aklinski now up 4-1, going to the B3rd. Did I hear the UK announcer say that Xavier doesn't have a press box ? I knew they didn't have lights, but thought they had a press box.

I didn't even pay close enough attention to the lineup. Is Dawson just getting a break because he struggled this past weekend, because of an injury/illness, or just kind of a normal break?

Cottam hitting 8th still blows my mind, but he seems not to mind it. I think he's hit at least 2 home runs from the 8 hole.

I haven't been able to watch/listen. Harper just leaving the ball up, or is he the victim of Xavier just hitting good pitches?

Schenzer came in and gave up 3 straight hits, before getting a comeback DP ball to end the 4th. I am listening, no tv for this one anywhere.

Just looked at the radar, and weather moving in towards Cincy. Cats need to add some more runs, in case game is called in the 6th or 7th.

Luke Heyer with a 3 run blast makes it 12-4 UK, still no outs. I really do not know about Dawson's status, A Rod still playing ss.

CATS have exploded for 7 runs in the Top of 5th, now up 12-4. Hope we get 5 full innings, in case the rain moves in ! Temp is 38 degrees, I believe Darren said.

I wish we could have gotten those homeruns on loan for the Arkansas series.

Man, coach must have been "very motivational" on the offense. Everyone seems to be in on it. 18-4 right now.

20 runs 7 HR's, at the bottom of the 7th. We have two more at bats unless there is a run rule in force.

Well, glad to see the team respond. I know it's only Xavier, but happy to get a little bit of good vibe heading into another tough weekend series.

Man, I had to leave in the 6th, Cats were up 14-4. They add on 6 more runs for a final of 20-4. Looking at the box score, the game was called after 8 innings due to darkness.
It would seem to me that a team with back to back Big East titles, and also back to back regional finals, could get lights and a press box added to it's stadium !

From what I could tell they have a plan to renovate it.

Not everyone had a good offensive game. Ryan Johnson was 0-5 and Squires was 1-4 but everyone else that started was over 300 except Rodriguez at SS who was 0-1 with 4 walks. On OB% .800 is pretty good. They cut the game at 8 innings. For all that we only batted .417. Normally, we have a few outs due to double plays, failed stolen bases, getting caught off base, etc. Xavier didn't have any errors, did have 8 walks, 2 HBP's, but ended up giving up 20 earned runs. That's gonna put a hurt on their team ERA which we helped in the first game. We won't hurt it as much one might think. Their team ERA went up over 1 after this game.

What happened to Pompey? Looks like he had two at bats before giving way to Shinn. Precaution because of the injury or something else entirely?

Can't believe how much Heyer, Cottam, and Collett are mashing. 28 home runs between them through just 21 games. We have 40. Last year we had just above 70 total through 66 games.

I expected the hitting to be down and the pitching to carry us this year. The opposite has been true. Harper gave up 4 earned runs in 3.1 innings. I sure hope the pitching staff lives up to its billing and we stay as hot hitting the ball. We may make it to the CWS if that happens.

Tried looking at previous year stats but the 2014 and 2013 statistics pages go '404' on me.
