Is Auburn really that good to be #3? Honest question as I've not paid them much attention.

I won't pretend that I've studied enough teams to put out a ranking with any credibility but 23rd seemed low to me as an optimist. If they continue to improve not only will this not be a down year but it could be our best in a while. I like these matchups vs better teams. I like how we're built for the SEC

Yes. Watched them against Houston. They are very good. They are not only experienced, but experienced playing together in Pearl’s system. They are a team of grown men like us, but they have been playing together a lot longer.
Yeah I watched that Houston game as well. I don't know if they're top 5 good, but they'll definitely be a problem in the SEC and win a ton of games.

Ridiculous list, and not just because Kentucky is severely under-ranked. They have UNC that high after losing to KU and defeating mighty Elon by 14. Houston still that high after getting beat at home? Auburn’s win over Houston is WAY overvalued. Kelvin Sampson hasn’t adapted to modern ball and last year showed that. They lost to Scheyer in the tournament with half the talent Duke has now.

13th seems about right for now
I think they’re better than the 13th best team in the country, but considering the fact that they are far outperforming what we thought this talent level would be capable of and the fact that we’re only 3 games into the season, I can understand being hesitant to put them in the top 10 just yet.

God dang though, the resilience and fortitude of this team to come through against a REALLY good Duke team has me thinking big things for them.

I think Iowa St and Ohio will disappear into the background. I also don’t think Purdue is what they are reflecting either.

I'd like.o see us top 10 going to Gonzaga.

No one is going to overlook Kentucky after beating Duke

I think UNC is ranked too high in that poll

Last years Houston team was really good and if not for an injury to their star player, they likely were playing in the title game

The opposite of what Cal almost always did to us. Duke is not soft and while I think we still beat them again if we face them again, I think they will have a great year. That win is going to be pulling us up all season.

Based on current games played and the outcome, placing them at 3 is reasonable. They play very “in your face” defense and give it everything on that side of the ball. Beating Houston in Houston is impressive. Currently #1 on Kenpom (because Kenpom statistics love them some defense) and Broome is currently the #1 Kenpom PoY. Through three games, they at least have a reasonable argument to be placed there. I said earlier this week that Auburn and us are the top two in the SEC (made this claim prior to the Puke game) and said Alabama should be about 4th. Having them still sitting #2 overall is egregious. I don’t understand how teams can skyrocket from wins, but never fall with (now two out of three) subpar games against subpar opponents. Will definitely be turning into Alabama vs Purdue for their first real matchup
