The national title game next year is 1/25. Just a hair shy of 2 months following the completion of the regular season.
Makes sense also.I looked at the calendar and it would make sense to move the season start up a week.
Week one - August 29
Week thirteen - November 21
Conference championships - November 28
CFP Round One - December 5
Quarterfinals - December 12
Semifinals - December 19
Championship - January 1
You could also have a week off between the end of the season and CFP, and go with a more (recently) traditional championship date:
CFP Round One - December 12
Quarterfinals - December 19
Semifinals - January 1
Championship - January 11
Something like my first proposal would really clean the calendar up. Then the portal could open January 2 and allow some breathing room between meaningful games and roster building.
I enjoyed the game last night, but I feel like it loses a lot of luster with so much time going by. The further past NYD, the less it feels like college football.Makes sense also.
It's almost like the powers that be looked all the available options and said "no, no, we need to do something that makes no sense whatsoever."
Shoot, at this point, why not push the title game to Super Bowl weekend. Make it the warm-up act on Saturday for the SB on Sunday.
