Looks like no expansion for a few years: YahooLink

"The Board of Managers has accepted a recommendation from the Management Committee to continue the current four-team playoff for the next four years, as called for in the CFP's original 12-year plan. At the same time, the Board expects the Management Committee to continue its discussions of a new format that would go into effect for the 2026-27 season," CFP director Bill Hancock said in a statement.

Resistant to change as the mountains. All about protecting the existing fiefdoms.

How did these mofos come to pretend to consider a 12 team tournament? What happens when there are three teams left? You can see sincerity right there, fer sure.

Why should CFB be the only sport in the world where access to the championship is limited to four teams by a panel of guessers? Ah, well, the tournament is dead for another 4 years.

Thank goodness this is dead for the foreseeable future. In today's set up (excluding independents) a team plays 12 regular season games, a conference championship game & 2 play-off games to win the NC. That is a total of 15 games. Now some want to expand it so a team (depending on seeding) will have to win 16 or 17 games fo an NC. This concept is absurd.

It’s going to happen eventually, and all the classic NY6 Bowl matchups will be destroyed so we can watch a 10-4 #11 Michigan State team get evicerated by a Bama.

Concerning the number-of-games issue, it's unfortunate that no one is considering reducing it. Makes a lot of sense health-wise.
