Chambliss fighting like **** to avoid getting drafted?

His plight makes little sense to me. He is fighting tooth and nail to get a 6 year of eligibility to return to Ole Miss next season. This in spite of the fact that he's viewed as likely the 2nd, or at worst 3rd, QB to be taken in the draft. A sure fire first rounder.

I don't agree with it, but I understand why some guys who know they don't have a future in the pros try to extend their collegiate career. But Chambliss is viewed as a good NFL prospect. First round draft pick contracts are fully guaranteed.

I applaud guys who shun going pro early to stay in college, but when you're considered a top pick and have already been around 5 years, it makes little sense to me to be fighting for a 6th season.

His suit is being heard in a Mississippi court, so of course he'll win. NCAA will have to appeal to get it to a court out of Mississippi.

If he were to sign with the NFL this year, the QB class is such that he’d be picked high as you suggest. He’d make $$$$ in the NFL and have a chance to advance. Next year? There will presumably be many more QB prospects to hit the market, lowering his chance of an early selection in the draft.

And, even if the Mississippi judge grants him the appeal, he could be tied up in litigation to a degree that he loses out on both the college and NFL opportunities this year. Why would you risk it?

Great point about next year's draft class. It is much deeper.

Don't like it. Sounds like he has a confidence problem and is taking the easy $$ that also buys him easy grls. Perhaps he is working on his doctorate. Hopefully the court is made up of MSU alums.

Confidence as a pro could be an issue but making big bucks as a college ''student athlete'' and just coasting is a big draw.
Going pro will require some work against stiffer competition.

NIL has certainly changed the calculus for mid-to-late round picks. Chambliss is likely an early first rounder, though. He'd absolutely make more by going pro. And it's a guaranteed contract.

I just don't get it.
