Interesting to look at championships by 25 year periods. We have the 2nd most in the first 50 years and the 4th most in the second 50 years.

If we don't win this year, this will be our worst quarter century in terms of champ count. If we do win this year, we will have more championships in the 50 year period after 1975 than before it.

UCLA's first championship was in 1964 and they won 10 in 11 years and then again in 1995. I know the chart is per 25 years so I'm just clarifying a bit for those who might not know the history. Good post.

Having to watch Duke, UNC, and UConn win 15 titles in my lifetime has sucked. I also hate the Lakers and Alabama football and I've seen them win quite a few as well.

We've had some bright spots in our lifetime and it could certainly be worse considering some have never experienced even one national title but seeing the team you hate win it all is the worst.

It does seem like NCAA champions were first named in the late 1930s so there is a period between 1925 and the late 1930s where no champion was named. I suppose one could go back and insert Helms champions during that period or something but it wouldn’t be equivalent to an NCAA championship.

Goes to show how much UCLA and UConn are the anomalies when 99% of their titles were won over a quarter century.
