Well that's pretty obvious since Brown said in the post-game conference he'd only seen Woods twice the past couple weeks and had "shut it down".

Since he can play football well he can go to any school with a big time football program, regardless of whether he's a good enough student. That's not true of non-football players so mark that one down as an advantage to being a football player.

Be careful. Bucky will tell you that they are just "slaves" and being made money off unfairly.

Sadly, with the way it is now for transfers, we will continue seeing the better players on bad teams doing what Woods did.........."shutting it down", refusing to play or practice to stay healthy, and looking to transfer somewhere else. Colleges needs to come up with a plan for this. It's not a good trend. Hopefully all his professors flunk his a$$ and make him academically ineligible.

I don't know what defines ineligibility but if each school makes its own choice then even if WVU flunked him some other school would let him in. He ought to be graded in the same way as every other student but realistically there are probably super easy classes at WVU for people that are good athletes but not good students, in order to keep them eligible, just like there are at other schools. I can't remember the last time I saw a really good player get declared academically ineligible anywhere.

NIL money should be tied to commitments if nothing else. If a player shuts it down bc the team under achieves, they should be on the hook to pay NIL money back.

Woods will not be eligible anywhere unless he gets a waiver for medical. He already used his redshirt and covid years. So without medical waiver it's not happening.

I feel like the players are leaving because Brown hasn't been fired tbh. They have checked out. Woods was checked out before Shane got fired. CJ leaving makes too much sense. He's as good as gone.

Any player that has a good chance of getting a starting job at even a middling Power 5 program should hit the portal as long as Neal is expected to be HC. 4 years and not a legit winning season to show for it is enough proof to any player what the ceiling is with Brown.

Wouldn't blame him if he did. Brown looks like he will waste talent
If he leaves now then it's guaranteed tampering is involved.

Instead of being able to leave a school at any time, players now have to enter the portal within set dates. The first window opens the day after the championship teams are selected, which will be Dec. 5, and closes 45 days later on Jan. 18, 2023. There is also a 15-day spring period from May 1-15.

Whatever the logistics are, the kid is staring at another year with a lame duck, going no where coach in Brown or an unknown quantity that may take a year or 2 to really get his scheme going. I'd say it is easy to see how a kid with his potential might come to the conclusion that transferring is the better bet all on his own.

Woods has used all his eligibility. He has to apply for medical year.

I was referring to Donaldson
Why would it matter if Brown was here or not. All Kids want to do is play. Fire Brown and he still might leave. Winning, losing, firing, hiring doesn't hold water in todays world of 18-24 year old football players.

No need to call them student athletes or college players anymore. It has nothing to do with being in college anymore.

I posted that I wouldn't blame Donaldson if he did transfer and you replied with a post about the possibility of outside tampering. All I am saying is that whether Brown stays another year as coach or a new guy replaces him, it is easy to see how a player with Donaldson's potential could come to the conclusion that he is better off at a program with less uncertainty. We all can see that Brown is just a lame duck lucky to struggle to a .500 record while waiting for the axe to fall if he stays another year. If he is fired, the next coach may also be a dud or take 1-2 years to really get what he needs installed to start working. So a player like Donaldson that many stable and reasonably well performing programs could use would not be at all off base to consider transfer to a less uncertain situation. No tampering needed.

If he leaves he leaves. Good luck to him.

I wish they'd take the next step and just not require them to be college students anymore. Pay them whatever they're worth and be done with it. And if they want to use some of that money to be a student at the university, then make them pay like everyone else and hold them to the same academic standards as everyone else.

Woods now makes 7 of the 9 defensive players that should of returned off of last year’s team to hit the portal. All those freshmen and lower division players that were not P5 level is no wonder WVU was not able to stop anyone.
