Country, bluegrass and southern rock legend Charlie Daniels died today at his home near Nashville. Reports noted the 83-year old died of a stroke. RIP Charlie.

I didn't know that Charlie was blind for most of his life, before a 21st century surgery late in his life. That Georgia song was a great song.

My favorite CDB song was Uneasy Rider, loved that that song in high school in Bixby at the lake just having another “toke”........

Big fan here. I saw him 6 or 7 times in concert in the 70's and 80's. I wrote him a letter once. It's a long story and not the reason why I'm writing this post, but it was about the song "Universal Hand". I never expected an answer, but I got the nicest hand-written letter back from him, written on his letterhead, and so beautifully written. I still have it among my treasures. He was a great man and a great musician. Now forever with the Lord.

I remember him being interviewed at a UT game back in the 80s as he was a huge Volunteers fan.
