charlie moore and his importance

the other 2 threads have morphed into weird threads.

a 2nd ballhandler, guard to pair with BM & IB & VL, top player in state, killer instinct, etc.. all great points

but it really gets us into unchartered territory with top CPS players and AAU circles. and the fact that they reached out to NU is even more telling.

VL & SL = catholic league
BB & IR = big suburbs
CM = CPS

CCC would quickly show that he can not only go nation wide to pluck top players, but also put a fence around Illinois and be a factor for ANY player in the state.

Charlie Moore is the rare player with the attitude, swagger, character, and grades to be a 4 year star at NU...

I guess the only location after CPS to lock down in the Wildcats hometown for 2017 :)

Haywood, you seem pretty connected. Have you heard anything about how the scholarship situation would play out if they landed Charlie Moore, or Canyon Barry?

If the rumors about a Moore family member having some health related issues causing him a desire to stay closer to home are true...you've got to like our chances.

That is, of course, true, CSC . . . but you'd hate to see that as being the main reason - and not just from the program's perspective.

Meaning Collins shouldn't get credit for this recruiting situation because it is circumstantial?

Jitim turned down Michigan State to stay close to his grandmother in Chicago. He is one of the all time great Wildcats in my book. I don't mind the circumstances, just the results.

Is Moore better than Billy Garrett, also from Morgan Park? He and Thomas Hamilton were supposed to be the lynchpins of a DePaul turnaround, but it hasn't happened yet and Garrett seemed to regress a bit last year. He hasn't been able to develop his outside game to go with his handle and driving ability. I still remember him getting his shot blocked inside by Olah in the final seconds at Allstate in December.

Doesn't Garrett have sickle cell? That's gotta be incredibly tough to fight through.

EDIT: Also to answer the question (in a way), Moore's composite ranking is 77 (#1 IL). Garrett's was 85 (#4 IL)

Players claim that they want to be closer to home for whatever reason and it's true sometimes, but ex-USC RB Ty Isaac transferred to Michigan to be closer to Illinois (I guess in mileage it certainly is but umm....) and I remember way back when our own Rex Walters transferred to a CC in Cali to be closer to home and he somehow wound up in Kansas.

There's a link posted to an article that talks about how close Charlie Moore is to his father, who is ill. In this case, the situation seems very real about him wanting to be close to home.

While that's true, if it was really that important to him, wouldn't he have considered that before signing his LOI, I believe his father was ill well before that.

Perhaps his viewpoint changed over the last several months and he realized how important it was to be close to home. I guess we'll see how big a factor it really is when he makes a final decision.

Other articles quote him saying he wants to go to a place where he can start early and have the ball in his hands.
