First of all, I am giving Stoops 5 years. He's done everything right other than win but you can see the flashes and because of that, I am going to be a little more lenient on him. I do think Gran will be able to help him out along the way when it comes to managing the game. Last night was Gran's first game so I am reluctantly giving that a pass. However, we do need to do something about the defense.

Obviously our D line is the glaring weakness, but in 4 years, DJ Elliot has shown me not one thing that leads me to think he can run an even decent defense. I know he is Stoops' guy, but sometimes you have to make changes that make you feel selfish.

Would it be that bad if we canned Elliot and let stoops focus on the D for the remainder of the year?

Also, if things don't go well in Austin, would there be any way that we could lure Charlie Strong in as the DC? If he does well here, we start winning and he gets another job, that is fine. We would then just have to go find a proven DC which would be much easier following a little success. Even though I hate these silent promises/Head coach in waiting stuff, I wouldn't be opposed to saying that he could be in line for the job should Stoops not get it done here.

Only if Hurtt and his locker of cash come with him.

I had to st0p when you wanted to hire one of jurich's adulterers, and anyone that thinks he didn't know all about hurtt before he hired him is naive. Besides, despite what ESPN tried to sell hurtt was the NROTY, not Strong.

Yep. Charlie knows how to win unlike UK. You can keep your ethics.

How much has he won at Texas, that used to get most of the talent from a VERY talent laden state.. In 2010 the whole state of Kentucky had ZERO four stars, while Texas had like FORTY FOUR, plus a few five stars of course. Texas used to get just about whoever they wanted from Texas, not any more.

This is D1 football. Whores and cheaters are hallmarks of winning.

I'm good with cheating as long as you don't get caught. All of the best play in gray areas, that's why they are where they are. Idiots don't get this, but even in high school sports the best coaches are paying for families to move, gettin jobs, and illegally recruiting. I know it first hand.

Whores? Ok. Some players have a sex scandal or a coach bangs a coed. Cool. Are you winning and can you keep from totally embarrassing the university. We're good.

Louisivlle? Dude, Yall got some serious issues. I've never seen anything like it. Yall should seriously consider a makeover after this decade passes. It's borderline insane and really very strange. Nothing to be proud of that's for sure.

Strong won't last at UT. It has to be one of the toughest HC jobs in the country and right up there with Alabama. To succeed, one has to be more than just a coach as you're continuously scrutinized by the media in Austin. Lots of rumors down here that he has no credibility with HS coaches in Texas, which is a killer.

I'll be honest here. I dont want to go overboard with it but if others are doing favors and etc for recruits or what not....... I'd be ok with equaling the playing field. Im sure as hell not going to be left behind. On the rare occasion you are recruiting up against guys who refuse to cheat.... then I'd honor that too.

But really, cheating isnt cheating if your competitors are doing it too. Its when you are going above and beyond like 20 years of no show classes......... prostitutes for recruits.. etc that its over board and unacceptable.

if I had the ability to brain wash everyone into being fair and honest. I'd pick that in a heart beat because the world should work that way ...unfortunately it doesnt

Charlie is a proven HC and on the brink of turning Texas around imo. No way he goes back to a DC position, epsecially a DC position at UK. Nonsense.
Proven at UL when playing in lesser conferences. Has not so far produced in real football conference yet.

And don't forget Tard basketball. After the NCAA rules on Pitino and his merry band of cheating whoremongers, your commuter school will have been on probation three times in the last 18 years. Stick that in your squirt bottle.

http://articles.philly.com/1999-02-...-louisville-assistant-coach-appeals-committee

You can keep your head buried in the sand if you want but other than a self imposed ban UL has never been on probation.
The article also said "Louisville was already on probation for Samaki Walker's use of two cars". That will be the tards being on probation 3 times when the NCAA drops the hammer for Whoregate. Quit while you are behind. You are out of your league ghetto boy.

Stoops and Eliot are a package deal. That was made abudently clear when DJ wasn't fired last year. Someone had to be on the chopping block and it was Dawson. But both should of gone last year

You are delussional if you think he goes from Texas HC to UK DC. He gets another HC job if he doesn't make it at Texas. I think he's going to have a good team this year.
Hey dufus! I said nothing about him coming here, I said he has not proven himself yet. Reading comprehension lessons would help you understand simple sentences. You are welcome.

Hate to break it to the cats fans but charlie strong will not be moving back to a DC. He's established himself as a worthy HC for the majority of fbs programs

Dawson leaving and Eliot staying are not related.

Dawson leaving and Eliot staying are not related.

The defense wasn't any better last year but somehow at the end of the year it became all Dawson's fault and Eliot's lack of adjustments and prep became an afterthought. I haven't forgot the comments following the UL game when it was brought up they never even prepped for a running QB. Eliot has always been protected by Stoops and Dawson was thrown under the bus in game 1.

If Eliot is truly the DC his performance has been as piss poor as Dawson's last year and he should of been gone too. The point is if there's a new DC, there will be a new head coach

Time to retract a post. Love that Strong took the Irish to the mat!!!
One win doesn't mean he has been a success at Texas but he and his staff definitely deserve credit for the win. He beat Oklahoma last year and then two weeks later got smoked by Iowa State and finished with a 5-7 record. So there is nothing to retract at all.
