🧩 Final Prediction

Standings Probability –
  • 🟦 Sweet 16: 85% chance
  • 🟨 Elite 8: 60%
  • 🟧 Final Four: 35%
  • 🟥 Championship Game or Win: 10–15%

Summary: Kentucky is positioned to reach at least the Sweet 16, likely the Elite 8, with a solid shot at the Final Four. A championship berth remains a tantalizing, albeit long-shot, upside—if all the pieces truly click.

📌 What Could Change This Prediction?

  1. Injuries or early NBA departures – especially impacting transfers like Quaintance and Lowe.
  2. Tournament seeding & matchups – a path with mid-major suddenly-hot teams could lead to early heartbreak.
  3. Development curve – if newcomers adjust fast (esp. Williams, Quaintance, Potter), Kentucky could outperform.

✅ Bottom Line

Big Blue Nation can expect another deep tournament in 2026. If key transfers and freshmen gel alongside seasoned returners, look for Kentucky to be playing in the second weekend (Sweet 16 or beyond) with a genuine shot at the Final Four, and slim but realistic hope for its 9th title.

This is where Chat comes off as kind of a dud. Doesn’t know that Lowe has returned, factors Reece Potter into the outlook of the team’s projected performance.

I think if you nudged it a bit and remind it that Oweh returns as leading scorer (if it didn’t know Lowe was back, then it probably didn’t know about Oweh either) and provide it w/ a likely rotation it would agree that the team looks like a Final 4 favorite. It puts some personal bias in, but it also factors in genuinely corrected data. I’d be slightly curious to see those results.

I'd be interested to see prompting with updated data across the top 10-15 teams and see what it comes up with from there.

Looks exactly like what most of us have been saying.

Barring injuries, another Sweet Sixteen seems likely, an Elite Eight is highly possible, a Final Four is attainable, and once you get to a Final Four, a title is in reach.

And like OldEvilleCat said, this is pretty much our realistic expectation every year.

Curious where ChatGPT would have had us in all the above categories in 2014.

ChatGPT and other forms of generative AI are amazing. Just sayin'
It's pretty nuts. I've been using ChatGPT like crazy on my aquarium stuff. I've put it through the ringer with some complicated, tricky stuff, and it's definitely accurate. Not shocking, I know. But crazy how detailed and nuanced it is. Great tool!

ChatGPT is amazing -- except for sports. I asked it for the SEC basketball tournament scenarios a week before the tourney. It was listing upcoming games that weren't on the schedule. It didn't even know that Texas and Oklahoma were in the SEC. I was shocked honestly.

It’s also not very good at moderately complicated math since its a language model.
