Nicely surprised to land at O'Hare airport Monday morning and see both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Teams both had a photo feature recognizing Northwestern's hoops team for its win against Rutgers and capturing 2nd in the Big Ten.

Actually also impressed with how fast the print paper made it to the airport. When I boarded my plane in Alaska the game was in its final minutes and by the time I reached Chicago (albeit with a brief change of planes in Seattle) the Sports Final Editions were already on the stands. As pictured the sun was just rising over Chicagoland:

At least the rather elongated route to Tokyo allowed for a taste of Chicago as one of the onboard meals offered a Chicago Hot Dog (sans the green relish.)

Sullivan has actually written two columns about the Cats recently including an upbeat one on Thursday after the close loss to Penn State.

Although not an article dedicated to the ‘Cats, Sullivan has a nice BTT writeup in today’s Trib, with some fun comments about the team.

My tail bone is hurting just thinking about your journey to land in Tokyo.

especially if you're flying from Alaska to Seattle then Chicago and then east.

"You're going the wrong way!"

Yeah, I lament the days when we still had direct flights from Anchorage to Tokyo for seven hours or less.

Yesterday I flew over my hometown and saw Denali from the air. They used to fly closer to the North Pole from Chicago to Tokyo but that required going over Russian airspace so now the route takes longer by going over South Central Alaska.
