Chris Mullin is out as the head coach at St. John’s, and will be bought out soon, according to sources.

St. John’s is expected to target Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley, the Jersey City, N.J. native and former Duke legend, sources confirmed. Hurley, 47, makes about $2.4 million, per USA Today, and his current contract at Arizona State runs through 2022. Arizona State may have to come up with an extension to keep him and fend off St. John’s. One source said it could go “either way.”

St. John's would be a perfect place for Rick to start over. NYC, home games at MSG, back in the Big East, Catholic university, away from the State of Kentucky, etc etc.
I could be wrong but I don’t see a Catholic school take a chance on Rick and his baggage. I believe in forgiveness but just saying..

It would be a nice fit for Pitino at St. John’s but would they be willing to put up with the initial public relations fiasco that would cause? If they are, they would be getting a good coach, but so far no school appears willing to take a chance on Rick. I do think someone will eventually though.

The fact that NONE of these schools are taking a chance on Rick Pitino tells me we that made the right decision in firing him.

The big thing looming with Rick is post-investigation, whenever the hell that is, he could easily land a 2 year show-cause. Would you want to hire a coach and one year later he is gone? Big risk!

I don't think it applies if you hire before the show-cause is given (if it is given). I believe I heard this on Louisville sports talk.

Well, it's not like Catholicism is free of scandal and baggage. St. Johns would be a perfect fit for him.
Funny. I’m Catholic and that’s funny. Hell, with Rick’s past I can’t believe he wasn’t named a Cardinal (no pun intended)!

Rick has thrown his name into the mix. Says he can make them relevant again. Bet they don’t even sniff.
