With all the injuries, it makes a person wonder if the light practice week, basically no hitting at all, has something to do with it.

Back in the day when the practices were said to be harder than the games and there was lots of hitting, did we have injuries like this?

Seems that whatever we are doing isn't working in that regard.

Its just bad luck. Our offensive guys have been virtually injury free with the exception of Gates rolling his ankle saturday. Stuff happens and this is just our year to have a bunch of injuries on defense. Hopefully it evens out next year.

Bummer.

But every other team we play has just as many crucial/key injuries as us and our depth is as good as anyone else we're about ready to face. This shouldn't be a problem at all.

seems like its happening all around the b10 this year. Minnesota and Michigan state also have a lot of injuries. I think every team has had good players go down this year. not at the level of Nebraska, msu, Minnesota but still crazy year

They instituted the light practice week a few weeks into the season *after* we had a truckload of dudes on injury. It was in the paper for crying out loud.

Iowa is missing both starting tackles on offense and Drew Ott may be out with season ending injury.. Starting RB and best WR and TE have been out for a few weeks now and a ton of other injuries. Its not just Nebraska but most of the teams in the BIG are banged up. I do think Nebraska's injuries on the defensive side are hitting critical mass right now though!

Sure can, although I don't think they come more credentialed than Boyd.
Yep. Can you imagine where we'd be without Boyd? We'd be raiding the wrestling squad, baseball team and tennis team for players to fill the gaps... Cool

Banker must feel like General Picketts at Gettysburg when Lee told him to rally his troops.

"Coach Riley, I have no defenders."

When you get down to your third string walkons we might feel some empathy. Until then you've got nothing to whine about. We're playing guys that shouldn't show up on the 2-deep.

Game week practices haven't had any real hitting in years.

In my opinion, they should be doing more physical practices, not less. When the body is not conditioned to what happens on Saturdays, you get injuries.. This same concept happens in other physical activity endeavors.

Curious what Boyd would have to say about it, and frankly am surprised he hasn't been interviewed by someone from the 'paper'.
