LOL. These ADs will never learn. Cignetti has been great for a year and a half. Now they’re locked in with him for 8 years and $90 million.

I hope it works out for them.
Looks great if it works out. When it doesn't look out...

His agent just got a fat check just because Kurt’s from PA, easiest money he ever made.
Jimmy Sexton is going to make a fortune in this cycle with PSU, UF, maybe FSU and LSU all opening up.

You could probably add about 5 others that are mentioned as well. Coaches just trying to get a nice bump at where they are at.

At this point, you off3er Urban or Saban 15 million a year.

And when they're not interested?

Regardless, Urban doesn't seem to think he's a candidate ...

“When you fire a coach, when his record was 104-45 and was in the Rose Bowl, Peach Bowl, and a score away from playing for a national championship, and 16 days ago he could have had the possible No. 1 team in the country, I don’t think you make that move, with a $75 million expense coming, unless you know who you’re gonna hire,” he said.

Usually, when a college football program fires a head coach, it goes through a long process of hiring a search firm at considerable expense, who in turn brings the athletic director a list of possible candidates.

“The reason they do that is because with those types of schools, you have to go out and search who’s interested. Because those aren’t top-five or top-ten jobs,” Meyer explained on The Triple Option podcast. “Penn State is a whole different animal.”

He added: “In that way, the head coach at the other school can say he hasn’t really spoken to anyone and the AD can say, ‘I’ve never talked to that coach.’ Because he hasn’t. It’s all through third-party stuff. They get the list together and go start recruiting or whatever when that’s done. At Penn State, I think it’s a whole different animal.”

The issue is if it "works out" .... he'll be clamoring for more or threatening to leave a year or two in and asking for an extension... damned if you do, damned if you don't

I never thought Indiana would pay that amount of money for a football head coach. College football is nuts. Our fan base needs to become realistic. He’s off the table, Urban was never on the table, and Saban is not coming out of retirement. I also believe it’s highly unrealistic to think that ND would allow Freeman to get away. Realistically, this opening is for Campbell or Rhule most likely, possibly Stein or Sumrall as stretch hires to try to catch lightning like Cignetti.

Isn't that what most of us suggested and want aside from Rhule/Campbell? Sure if Urban wants it you speak with him because he wins titles as is the stated goal. Otherwise you hire a young high profile coordinator and let them spent NIL and use the portal.

Revenue sharing has screwed successful schools. At some point I would think OSU, Michigan, and PSU are gonna get tired of giving money to the others. ACC has it right IMO.

Saw a story today that Joe Brady is the betting favorite at this point.
So PSU would wait until a NFL coordinator of a team that’s going to the playoffs and may play late into January or even early February would finish his stint there? That effectively would kill any recruiting or portal class.

They really need to hire someone who’s going to be able to start as soon as possible in December and salvage a recruiting class and bring in a lot of transfers.
