Clemson better watch out for The Cuse

You saw it here first. Clemson may lose to Syracuse Saturday. More likely they will escape because they are the luckiest team in the country, but they may run out of rabbit feet this weekend. Currently, they are 27 point favorites at home. That can be the kiss of death. Coming off the emotional last minute win over FSU, the team now has passed their two most difficult challenges. Now it's coast out against weak competition and off to the playoff to avenge last years title loss.

Again, the kiss of death. Syracuse is coming off a bye after upsetting Virginia Tech in their last game. Their fast paced offense can cause a lot of problems, especially for a unfocused, overconfident and highly favored team. I can see Clemson being that team this Saturday at 3:30 PM. Syracuse not only beat the Hokies, they did it rather easily and Tech was in their playing well stretch. Before losing to the Orange they beat UNC by 31 and after losing they have beaten Miami by 21 and beat Pitt on the road last Saturday.

If I were a betting man I would put money on Syracuse in this game. I can see it coming down to the last minutes with Clemson trying to stop the Cuse from scoring a winning TD. Something like 38-34.

It's college football after all.

And you would have said the same thing with Penn state over Ohio state. Sure, the odds are with you but I'm telling you, it would not be unprecedented or impossible.

Yep.

And we'll beat UVA by 50. Ah...never mind ;)

Funny things happen.

CU has not exactly been blowing people out either.

Exactly. I don't know why some here can't believe a upset like this with all that's happened so far. The top teams tend to perform better against top teams and underperformed when big favorites. Clemson is a perfect example and I'm telling you they are relieved they got by Louisville and FSU. Syracuse doesn't worry them and the Orange are the best of the lesser ACC teams right now. Like I said, they'll probably win on a blocked punt with 25 seconds to go but they are primed for an upset.

Hey, I agree anything is possible we know that. It's when we try to predict when it is going to happen. Kind of like when I go to Churchill Downs or the casino.

The Cuse will lose. But they will look good doing it.

Too much to hope that Clem loses 2X. Let's hope for the OB.

Won't happen, especially when you have your own fans reffing the game. Maybe if it were at Syracuse. I do agree though , Syracuse can give any unsuspecting team fits with that offense.

Syracuse played us much tougher than NCSU, NCSU should've beaten Clemson. Not as crazy a thought as some might think.

Never say never. Remember this also......every dog has their day. Lots of chatter across the country about Clemson getting calls and things just don't seem to be on a level playing field. Maybe that field is on the level this weekend or sometime soon. Never give up, Cards fans.

Don't disagree that it's a possibility for Syracuse to squeeze out the win. But statistically speaking, UofL's best chance to make the NCP is for Clemson to win out and then take away the spot from the PAC12. (The Big12-2 is essentially out of it or will be shortly). In short, better off to root for Washington to lose one or two than Clemson.

I think a 1 loss Pac-12 champ gets in over us...that'll be one more quality win for them that we won't have...If Washington loses one but then wins the championship game, they'll likely jump us in the final polling. If OSU beats Mich, we'll probably get passed over as the non conference champion included in the final 4 as well...so, we need either a 2 loss Washington or a 2 loss Clemson at this point...if it's Washington we need a 2 loss OSU as well.

It's hard to beat a good team. ..

It's almost impossible to beat a good team plus their officials

How long is the "Clemson officials" hate fest going to go on? You're starting to sound like coots.

If Clemson was too lose two games against their schedule it would only help us win the conference which wouldn't automatically put us from a computer standpoint in the playoffs. It mathmatically would devalue our computer ranking, because Clemson would have lossed to terrible teams. Card nation some of you understand we blowed our chance, others are searching for that golden egg.

Not so terrible if the losses were to Pitt and UNC in the ACC title game. But I agree the Cards playoff chances are not very good no matter what happens. The remaining schedule is just not going to get it done for the Cards.

What if they end the season with a victory of the SECCG-bound Kentucky Wildcayuts? :) No doubt, we need a LOT of help.

Why don't we try a new philosophy? Win every game on your schedule in impressive fashion and then see what happens.

Syracuse isn't beating Clemson at Clemson; if it were at the Dome I might lean to it being competitive until some point in the third quarter. But outside of the Dome, on grass, against Clemson's defensive front I'm not seeing it. Heck they lost defensive backs to injury against us and a deficient secondary isn't something I'd want to take the field with against Deshaun Watson. Look what happened to us down a corner.

The die is cast on the Playoffs. Earlier this year there was the two teams from the same conference talk that fell by the wayside. If Washington loses there will be two teams from the same conference. But the release Tuesday convinced me it will come from the Big Ten.

A one loss Washington will not get in over Louisville. The ACC Atlantic Division is ranked in the top three in the country. What we need is for Florida State to win out which would include a win over Florida. We also need Clemson to continue to win. It would also help if all the teams we have played would continue to win. These rankings will change quite a bit before the end of the season. We need to take care of business and keep winning. That is what we can control.

A one-loss ACC Champion won't get in; TAMU at #4 proves this, especially if tOSU beats Michigan and Washington goes undefeated to win the PAC-12.

Couldn't have been more wrong. Congrats to Clemson for being focused and ready to play. There seems to be just a very small fraction between Clemson and Louisville. That's why they're undefeated.

But hey, let's hear it for the 49ers! Charlotte beat Southern Miss today after beating Marshall last week on the road. They are no longer anywhere near the worse FBS team. May help with the knuckleheads on the playoff committee with the Cards SOS.

Their QB went out early, made a big difference.
