Scott Pagano has narrowed his choices from 37 to 7, with OU among the finalists. He is projected among the top ten DT's in the 2018 draft.

Here are his seven finalists
He trimmed that lengthy list of options down to seven programs: Oklahoma, Cal, Oregon, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas and Arkansas

I like our chances with this list
Agree, and his connection with OU, having played against them two years in a row may give OU an inside track. My guess is that Oregon might also have a good shot.

I just have a question. Why would he leave a current NC team with a chance for another ring? I don't get it.

Clemson for their upcoming 2017 season had a huge loss of players including their great QB Watson being NFL bound.
No, actually it's because he lost his starting job to a true freshman this past season and outside of that kid getting injured, Pagano wasn't likely to sniff the field in any meaningful way in his senior season.

I'm sure it's a collective of a bunch of things, but what made the most sense to me is simply that he's already graduated and won a championship at Clemson.
Sounds like a smart kid that just wants to experience more before heading to the draft, and in all likelihood, he will be drafted. Have fun at a new place, learn from a new coach.

Absolutely. Regardless of losing a position battle at Clemson, he's still ranked the #7 DT out of 120+ on the NFL draft projection site. That probably puts him as a 2nd or 3rd rounder. I don't think we can currently claim a DT of that caliber at OU.

His presence could allow McKinney and Lott to redshirt, which they may anyway.

His defensive numbers were good at Clemson, enough to show he will help any team he goes to.......and OU could use him this season.
Oh no doubt OU could use him. He is prolly an upgrade to the position for OU. Just saying that the reason he is leaving is more likely because he was facing minimal playing time, rather than the theory that he is happy with one natty title or is leaving cuz Clemson lost alot of players off the team after this year. If he is looking at trying to improve his draft stock during his senior season, then makes sense he doesn't wanna spend the season playing behind a kid that came in as a true freshman and pushed him out of his starting spot.

Although they didn't have championship games back then, JT White was a varsity player for that 1942 Ohio State team and he was the starting center for the 1947 Michigan team (2nd Team All American that year).
So JT White was a major contributor to both championship teams.

Jake Coker was Jameis Winston's backup on that 2013 Florida State team. He was also out for the season due to injury just 6 games in, so he only made a handful of throws on that championship team.

Those were pre animal house years as well; a guy could claim 'eligibility' for a decade apparently (almost)

I would not want to go up against Oregon's new coaching staff when it comes to recruiting. Willie Taggart put together a damn good staff over there. Not to mention their D-line Coach is Polynesian, that's going to help them here as well.

I think "there" meaning Oregon and "here" meaning this situation.

"Willie Taggart has put together a damn good staff at Oregon. Not to mention the Oregon D-line coach is Polynesian, that's going to help them in the situation of recruiting Scott Pagano."

The Polynesians are tuff kids. BYU"s coach is Poly, he has built a tuff defense. I know a family that is Mormon in Michigan and his son has a friend playing for BYU.

It's amazing that a freshman could move him off the field and that he also be drafted to play in the NFL. Not saying that he won't but amazing that Clemson is that loaded.

I agree, but keep in mind that his NFL draft ranking is of draft eligible players.
He still had 4 starts for Clemson in 2016, and he missed the final few games with a broken bone in his foot (no surgery required). I don't know what everyone else knows about this freshman not letting him see the field at all, but I'm under the impression that even if he weren't the starter in 2017, he'd still be heavily in the rotation.
