Just heard that the Cleveland Indians are no more. I didn't hear the new name. I'd suggest the Cleveland Chickens.

I'm fine with it personally. I think if there is a large portion of people, especially a minority with a fairly tragic history that dislikes and is offended by your team nickname then it might not be a bad idea to change it.

That being said... if they do not become the Cleveland Spiders it will be a travesty. The Fighting Randy Newmans will also be acceptable.

I agree with that - I just don't know if that's the case. Are native Americans offended, or just woke white people?

The Seminole tribe told Florida State they did NOT want them to change the name.

If theres a whole bunch of organized tribes saying they want it gone thats one thing. Im pretty certain this is mostly just liberal whites, which is ridiculous.

Yes, they got the short end of the stick in the long run from us. But to act like they were just poor innocent defenseless people, they absolutely committed atrocities to both us and to other tribes. Some tribes had black slaves. Some fought for the Union and some for the Confederacy through treaty deals.

I just think all of this stuff is woefully shortsighted.

My diatribe notwithstanding, they ABSOLUTELY MUST go with the Spiders.
