predicting a 20% unemployment rate.......real nice job of trying to keep down the panic. It doesn't take a genius (even a liberal can figure it out) to know that they are trying to do everything they can to prevent a Trump re election

Won't work...usually ends up the exact opposite of what they're trying to pull off. Look for 5 to 6% GDP growth, 2% unemployment and a record DOW approaching 40K.

in all honesty though how high to do you think the unemployment rate will go? I've also heard them throwing around number as much as 50% of small businesses closing

They ought to let me program the news.

When the Soviet Union finally croaked ,they didn't have the transmitter's to matching the prodution peak and quality for TV. So they had their national female anchors do the old "bump n' grind" to keep the male viewers watching.

About year later "The Naked News" was rolled out over here.

In '79 I was in for a visit. We all had degrees but this little thing called the first Iran-Iraq War had popped up. Of the four of us, I was the only one that had a job better than a "Gas N Go" type filling station. Except for Eastern Panhandle, unemployment ran 12-14%

Won't get to 50%. 20% is definitely in reach and there is no problem with CNN reporting this even though some thin skinners on here will continue to ***** about MSM informing America the news and analysis that isn't "cheerleading".

The other point that isn't being discussed yet, even when the country is "open" for business at sometime, the economic impact isn't going to be a big boom. It is going to take a very long time (months, maybe a year) for the economy will show a recovery. This is going to have an effect that will be felt in the economy for quite some time. But it will recover and things will improve.

If you can't see that CNN([laughing]) has a leftist-driven, get rid of Trump agenda, you're blind to truth. Caught in so many lies and false reporting, it is a fake news joke. It is the least popular news source in the MSM.

There's a problem with everything CNN([laughing]) reports.

It is hate-driven and that is how I know many of you use CNN([laughing]) as your main "news" source.

I haven't read any economic analysis that indicates we're heading for some type of depression unless we don't get back to work. Once we get moving again, most analysts believe a boom is coming due to pent up demand. Don't forget just before the scare hit, we had the best monthly gain in jobs we'd seen in decades.

Hang in there, soon we won't be able to keep up with all of the demand and everyone will be making $$$$$$$$$$ money. Even butthurt Leftists.

We are in uncharted territory. Trying to equate it to something from recent past is fruitless. We have no idea how this will play out. We could see a radical change in our economy, or we could go back to where we were. There's no one to blame for it (well maybe the Chicoms), it just is.

I understand that you dont like Bru or CNN, but no one else would even take on the question so far. How high do you think the unemployment rate will go? How much economic fallout do you think there will be from shutting down most businesses?
I don't see these small business loans being enough to keep small businesses open. I expect serious downturn in the market and at least a recession, and if they try to do this for more than another month or 2 I could see unemployment as high as 25% which is equivalent to the Great Depression. I hope they change gears on how this is being handled sooner rather than later for economics sake.

I have nothing against BRU. I just disagree with what he stands for.

No clue how high unemployment will go. Depends on how long we keep our economy shut down over this virus.

Investors aren't as skeptical. Lots of Capital,(liquidity) low energy prices, ample supplies of energy, high immediate demand for goods and services, plus an eager labor pool are all the ingredients needed for a massive boom. If you look at the data large investment houses are pouring over now, we are ramping up for maybe the biggest gains on the Dow ever.

We'll see, but follow the money. It's a Bull market.

Reports from a Fortune 50 company that gets daily updates as they are producing the disinfectants for the front lines are telling employees that mid May is the start of businesses opening back up in NYC. That is there projection.

My BIL who is the Risk Officer and sits on the board ( is also past President of RMA-I am told it's an important organization) for a very large independent bank in TX is concerned that his bank is being forced to make loans to small businesses and he is not sure if the gov will bail them out if they cannot repay. His bank went from 2000 SBL a week to over 7,000.

Could also be based on current fears and effective treatments now percolating out there could crash the fear wagon everyone's riding in. Way too early to predict "gloom and doom" especially if we get economic activity kick started again. We stay voluntarily shuttered like this....well then yes no one wins.

Trump-hating leftist.
Come on Cat! I’m not sure of your specific background, but I assume you’re a native West Virginian?

You can’t understand how someone could hate a man like Trump. This man has literally said whatever to make money. He has screwed contractors out of earned money. He has shamelessly hocked almost every kind of product from board games to bottled water. He hasn’t lived by principles of traditional family or even traditional ideas of relationships. He plasters his name in gold on almost everything he owns. His team of lawyers has buried justice seekers in paperwork, cost, and time. These types of men give capitalism a bad name, and have plagued our State and it’s people for natural resources for decades.

As for the “leftist” part, I really don’t know what that means anymore. AOC - fvcking communist China - Bernie - Obama, there’s a lot of distance covered on the “leftist” moniker these days. I call myself a liberal. Mostly because my ideas on policy are not tied to any religious ideology, and I believe in non-traditional solutions to problems that plague us. But there are many issues on which I identify as conservative — the death penalty, fiscal responsibility, free markets, keeping big government in check. But even within those examples there are differences in the conservative viewpoints. On some of my liberal stances — abortion rights, welfare programs, needle exchange there are differences in liberal viewpoints as well. Meaning: take any policy issue individually, and there is a range of stances. We need to recognize more that people can fit anywhere along that range no matter how they identify or even how they vote.

If you vote for a leftist, I consider you a leftist. Socialist/Communist/Progressive jacks that want to take down America. If you don't identify as such, don't vote for such.

And if you hate Trump for the reasons you say, why the hell wold you look at Biden any better? Biden has adapted to the leftists' agenda. Green New Deal, free college, government takeover of healthcare, open borders, sanctuary cities, paying for illegal immigrants...etc. Those policies will take America down. Much higher taxes for everyone. Also job-killing policies.

Not to mention he's a child/woman groper/molester and he's dumber than what you all claim Trump is. He's in bed with China. Back-door deals with Ukraine for his son. He did his quid pro quo right on camera. He got his brother, with zero construction experience, a 1.5 billion dollar construction deal with a foreign country. He's everything you claim to hate about Trump and then some.

So what do you mean?

Exactly what he meant to say. Only problem is, it meant something only to him, and there is NO WAY you can disagree with one sentence of it!

He lied to you. His modeling was all wrong. Just like the man made global warming alarmists. [winking]
