Smart *** comments then actual.
1) he can audition for a part as assistant in Waterboy 2 if it is made.
2) I always want him to go to Oregon..
3) I feel like this is a preemptive strike to get Urban Meyer when he starts getting headaches. More generally, to get in front of the coaches carousel but I do think it will be Meyer.
4) we pi$$ and moan about Fitz but, man, I'm glad we aren't in this stupid arms race. Bad enough to be in the facilities race.

So they beat Florida, and he gets fired?

I am sure it has more to do with his role in the sexual assault allegations and response to them. That said, if LSU had been dominant since winning its Natty, he probably keeps that job.

He won the Natty because he had Joe Burrow (surrounded by a lot of talent) on offense, and Aranda coaching the defense. It was bound to fall apart when they left. Saban he ain't.

and Joe Brady as his OC. Orgeron was just along for the ride.

Coach O was also heavily involved in the community, letting kids participate in practice:

Sad thing is they'd even overlook all that if the team kept having <2 loss seasons.

Regardless they gotta be careful with expectations down there.

Reminds me of Coker getting fired at Miami.

yup, or Solich at Nebraska. What they wouldn't give to have "only" 9 wins and be bowl eligible.

Louisiana produces so much HS football talent and LSU is the only game in town for that state. When they are good to can clean house with in state football talent, even a decent head coach will consistently win 9+ games. If they can get someone like Joe Brady to come back (I doubt it), look out again. Neither Miami nor Nebraska can say that.

I mean, you’ve gotta respect a guy who lets it all hang out like this.

Talent wise though Miami has a bigger edge over most of the ACC than LSU does over most of the SEC.

Just baffling levels of underperformance at Miami regularly. Their roster has 40 4+ star recruits on average every year.

Talent differential just feels like it should be wider in the ACC given they have such a wide spread of programs.

Only 1 division title since they joined the ACC is just totally unacceptable with their location and the fact that plenty of top South Florida talent wants to stay close to home.

I thought he had announced that he was retiring at the end of the year.

How about Nebraska or Texas? They seem to have expections that lead to coaching changes as well

Miami recruits against Florida, Florida State and UCF just in state, not to mention the out of state competition. It’s not the same dynamic as LSU where kids in state know only LSU football, similar to what you see in Ohio and Pennsylvania with OSU and Penn State.

While true, I believe that there is a lot more talent in FL than in Louisiana

Have the Cats fallen so far that Fitz doesn’t even get his name on some random dude’s made-up list? Geez.

At least Brohm didn’t make the list either.
Nah I think it's pretty obvious he isn't going anywhere. Doesn't mean he's not a good coach that others would want. Also, LSU football is just not the same as other (College) teams that have pursued him. No offense to LSU personally, they are in SEC country, but it is win at all costs, no admissions or academic restrictions, look the other way at problems so long as they win. Fitz's "school/community first" thing wouldn't play down there.

Interestingly, at a very small level, Fitz's season looks a bit like LSU's 2020+ troubles - lost a great coordinator, lost a lot (for us) of talent to NFL, including a successful transfer QB. Difference is, NU will tolerate a couple of mediocre years, vs the LSU president that said 'we don't do 5-5 at LSU'

We don't have the social injustice / lost the team thing that Coach O has, as far as I know. Closest we had was the union issue

I’m not surprised by the lack of interest by L$U. I am surprised that Fitz hasn’t been involved in more U$C rumors.
