Coach Pope is projecting confidence and positively embracing the process in all phases. He has brought together a team that embodies the lessons him and the staff learned in the SEC this past season.

On paper, the roster is much more robust and athletic, physical. Rebounding and defensively, these areas are being underscored as well as maintaining the style of play, up-tempo pace and three point ability of his team.....

There's a solid lineup of Kentucky men out there, now. Taking pride in this state and the program. That's really what it's all about here. We're very fortunate to have the kind of program we have with Coach Pope at the helm.

We do have all the pieces and have the ability to go all the way. We absolutely do. A blind man can see this team and see it. Only a true hater would think otherwise. Can't wait till' the season begins !

Yes!

Barring any season ending injuries, we should be contenders.

The overall team defense should be better. We have several guys that can flat out guard you and I don’t see any real defensive liabilities like playing Brea and to a lesser extent Carr and Almonor presented. Maybe Jelavic? Almost everyone we added is a good to great defender.

Offensively, we don’t have a pure shooter like we did with Brea, but we have some guys that can get to the rim. This past season, only Butler (when 100%), Oweh, and Robinson (before injury ended his season) were really a threat to do anything off the bounce. Now we have Lowe, Oweh, probably Johnson, and Aberdeen that can drive the ball. And I expect Chandler to grow that part of his game as well.

When you have guys that can drive, it opens things up for shooters on the perimeter, so those other guys should get better looks.

It’s nice to have a coach that puts a lot of thought into the makeup of the roster rather than one that recruits whatever talent he can get and then tries to make it fit.

What team would you trade our roster with right now? I can honestly say I wouldn’t trade it with any team in college right now.

Look at the added players coach has brought in
Lowe all-ACC point guard
Aberdeen solid high D1 player on the national champs
Mo glue guy on a top 10 team all year
Jayden a potential lottery pick
Kam his potential and athleticism are off the charts and he can shoot the 3
Jelavic one of the top international prospects in the world
Jasper 5 star instant shooting and scoring
Malachi considered one of the best post players in the class
Potter a solid role player who is 7-1 and shoots the 3 well

And we brought back 4 solid players who already have a year in the system
Oweh all-SEC
Garrison former McDonald’s AA
Chandler got better late in the year
Noah steady contributor should make a huge leap this year

I wouldn't trade but there are some in and around our class like BYU, Purdue, Houston, Duke, possibly Michigan and Louisville, and probably a few others too but I will take my chances with our guys and coach.

Serious contender.

On paper yes. My hope is they blend together like last year’s team and the personal egos are set aside. Play together to win!!

Pope was smart enough to know he needed more dogs to compete in the SEC. I heard he was working on adding more NASTY to his" come on fellas" sideline demeanor. He's up to 100 face scowl crunches each morning and hired an insult trainer to add more salt to his vocabulary.
