Kentucky received 31 first place votes, Virginia received 1.
Looks like the one coach still refuses to crown Kentucky, in his own, lonely opinion.

This one coach is the worst. The absolute worst.
Soon as UVA loses, it will be Gonzaga that gets the vote, given they don't lose before then.

This seems correct for the moment. I can understand giving Virginia a couple first place votes (they only got one) although the voters evidently forget they went into overtime at Miami and looked worse then Kentucky in that game. The Zags are hard to figure out. I can't see a guy like Wiltjer being that significantly different now then he was at Kentucky. But he was always real good against the less physical teams so hard to tell. Wisconsin lost their second game because Kaminsky was out so I wouldn't dismiss them just yet. Their deliberate tempo styled game could be a challenge to Kentucky. But, I do expect at some point Kentucky will return to their high level game.

We've beaten two top 10 teams, including on one their home court. And UNC at 16. And Texas at 20.

polls don't really matter at the present. The only one that will truly matter is when they are number 1 after the tourney has ended and number 9 is raised up in the rafters.

Wondered about that too but think it's fair for now.

No way is Villanova the fifth best team in the country, but based on recent results, I guess you have to put them there for now. It's meaningless at this point anyway.

I'm surprised... I thought the "one coach" would've recruited someone else by now, considering our 2 OT games..

Shows how stupid the polls really are. If Duke was supposedly the 2nd best team then how do you drop to 4 on one bad game? Did the other teams get better to jump them or was it a fluke? Until there is a pattern of losing then on game means nothing. Gonzaga is not better and has lost as well. Now that Duke has the most recent lose puts them lower for some reason. Polls are just a little on the goofy side really.

Agreed, but polls have always been like this. You get a red X for a loss and a green smiley face for a win, even if the voters think you really are better than teams they vote higher than you. For example, if UK were to lose, we would probably slip to 3 or 4, but almost everyone believes when all is said and done, we are still the best team in the country.

These polls should all be taken as just a general barometer of college basketball's best teams. Rarely is it a literal, precise, accurate order of 1-25.
