Its like clockwork.
But this UK team, like Pope said at halftime of the Duke game, is built different.
Yes, they damn sure are. They are all paid assassins/mercenaries with tons of experience and talent coming to UK to be coached by Pope, who all these guys were cherry picked for his style of play and of course to cut nets!

Cool by me. We should know as well as anybody what these rankings mean early. I'd rather be underrated than overrated anyday
I’m fine with it actually. I think what the coaches saw was a game where Duke led the majority of the game and lost it at the end. Both teams are pretty evenly matched honestly.

You know, every time the rankings come out in October, there are always a group of people in every fanbase that say "these rankings don't matter, talk to me in January".
Well, they most certainly do matter for a few reasons.
1) when you're ranked just inside the top 25, all it takes is one loss and you're out of the rankings and who knows for how long.
2) you beat a top 5 team, but since you were ranked so low, they refuse to jump you ahead of the team you beat, because some of them think it was a fluke and some think that's just too far to jump someone.
3) the perception all year long is that you are not a top 10 team and even if you make it up to 10th, all it takes is one loss to a middling team on the road and you go back to where they think you should be, because pre-season rankings left that impression.
Hopefully Pope and the guys can prove the duke win wasn't a fluke, so this team isn't fighting an uphill battle all year.

If they are evenly matched one would think the tie breaker would go to the team who walked away with the win.

They're supposedly perma-banned since the infamous stall ball game around 1982 - but I would like to see UK play them & maybe drop UL for 2-3 seasons
'83-'84 season was the stall game...something like 24 to 17 final
Massive win for seeding. Early in the season you can make big moves. The longer the season goes on, the harder it is to move up. We are in a perfect position right now.
Only rankings that matters are the ncaa tournament committees. You move up theirs by getting quality wins like Duke.
What if UK didnt have the most wins ever?

“Then” maybe the venom and hate wouldnt be as severe!
This is why the Coaches kept UK out of the top 10.
What will they do after we win at Clemson and Gonzaga?
