So....
The Big 10 has 4 top 10 teams and none from 11-25.
The SEC has only Alabama in the top 10 with 4 from 11-20 and one at 24.
The ACC has 2 top 10 teams, 2 from 11-20 and 1 at number 22.
The Pac12 has 2 in the top 10, 1 from 11-20 and 1 at number 25.
The Big 12 has 1 in the top 10, 2 from 11-20 and 1 at number 23.
I see the Big 10 being very "top heavy" and the SEC having only one "bully on the block" in Alabama, as usual.
The ACC looks good.

The b1g always benefits from the usual east coast bias and their fluffy soft scheduling (except for tosu) of MAC non-con opponents...

Yes the Big 10 seems to get high marks but in the end that conference falls flat. Same is true with USC. I would have to say 8 is a fine place to be for the Sooners. Time for Baker to make his statement !!

I made my first bet of the season yesterday. I have OU winning against the spread in Columbus with my oldest friend from Lubbock who will be up to watch the game with us. He gave me a give or take bet knowing I couldn't take Ohio State. LOL

Beyond OU and Texas, how formidable are the non-conference schedules of the other 8 Big 12 teams ? That's not related to "the usual east coast bias" is it ?

Well I guess you told me again CT; I can't get anything past you. Who knows, Tulane may surprise the world ala Houston last year... It was the Coaches poll: no east coast bias there. Maybe if it were AP or the old UPI

iasooner....I wasn't trying to put you down or show you up. But it's been my complaint about the Big 12 wanting more respect and not really deserving it, because aside from OU and Texas, the other 8 teams don't want to pay the piper to get such respect.
OU and Texas (and every powerhouse team) will always have one game out-of-conference that's against a dwarf opponent....UTEP, North Texas, Rice, UL-Monroe, etc.,....but those games are the exception rather than the norm.

I don't think they're half bad TBH.

Texas Tech - Arizona State and Houston
Okie State - Tulsa and Pittsburgh
TCU - Arkansas and SMU
WVU - VaTech and East Carolina
Kansas - sucks
Iowa St - Iowa
Baylor - UTSA and Duke (I'm sure they were crap teams when scheduled, but these are both teams that could beat them.)
KState - Vanderbilt (Again, a crap team when it was scheduled but not so bad now.)

No offense taken CT ! (damn Yankee)

The Clones - hawx is called the "Cy-hawk" game here & is their 'Des Moines River Rivalry'. Anyone can win despite their team strengths/weaknesses.

Historically these teams have not played to caliber of teams in non-conference play as OU and Texas have.

Now that you mention it, I've been in Iowa cornland for almost 37 years so I guess that makes me one too...

The sweetcorn is prime right now. I used to hate it (before cable) and no weekly coverage of the Sooners and the only choice was a b1g game every week of CFB; I'm sure you can relate. Now it's fine for 8 months out of the year/freezing my arse off the other 4. There are no traffic problems which is great and I can be in OK in an easy 8 hour drive.
