In a 38 year period WVU has had 4 head coaches leading up to Brown. The 2 successful coaches gave at least a flash of brilliance in their first 3 years. Both improved substantially from year 1 to year 2. One beat Oklahoma on the road in their third year. The other beat a good VT team on the road their 2nd year and crushed the better version of that VT team at home in their 3rd year.
The 2 unsuccessful coaches didn't significantly improve or even regressed from year 1 to year 2. Both also showed significant warts in their 3rd year. One lost back to back games to average Syracuse and UConn despite having a loaded offensive roster that only managed 27 total points in those 2 games. The other had a losing season in year 3 with a loss to Kansas.
So far coach Brown is trending more towards the unsuccessful coaches. I really want to Brown to do well and not because I have any vested interest in the man himself. I just want WVU to be successful and the head coach has to be successful for that to happen. I want good things, but Brown you gotta show us SOMETHING after 2 full years of leading the program.
