This was a bit of a dumb interview, but there was something specific about the interview that was interesting. They asked Collins as directly as you can this time of year about replacing Coach K. CC's response didn't bother me, and left me with a sliver of hope that this is a long-term thing if NU does it right.

It means he's going to be a while, but they are prohibited from being more specific. HIPAA-speak.
They are also probably not really sure how long it will be. I had mono at NU, went to Searle for treatment, and was out in few days.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, 50% of those with mono have a recovery time of two weeks. Assuming here that Scottie has a young, healthy immune system...

For a patient with mononucleosis, the time of return to a sport which may involve significant contact depends on whether or not the spleen is enlarged. If enlarged, the spleen would be at risk for rupture, and the athlete should be held out.

Why was it dumb? I enjoyed it. Although I was a little nervous at the way the radio guys talked about making the NCAAs as if it were a done deal and that CCC let them do that.

I thought the Northwestern-focused part of the interview was pretty good. Some good, solid questions.

However, for my taste, there was too much rambling about the Jordan Bulls and CC as a ballboy. Also, there was very little discussion of the actual team.

I thought the Danish (Edit: Correction of the auto-correction ... Dakich) interview was much better despite the usual "coachy" back slapping.

Anyhow, good to hear Collins get out there and enjoy talking about the team.

It's also possible he had mono and didn't know it. He was very sluggish in his last two games. I had mono going into my freshman year in college. Initially they didn't diagnose it and I remember running out to the outfield feeling like I was running in quick sand. After a couple more weeks it was finally diagnosed. All in I was down for close to a month.

Are you left handed ? Mono is much more serious in dexterity challenged individuals
